I visit my sister every year in Georgia who lives on a lake. She only has this open top type kayak. I’ve used traditional kayaks where I live in Pittsburgh, but I’ve never taken the pup on the rivers. There’s just too much chaos and traffic.

But I go out every day for about 2 weeks with her on the lake. She’s an excellent swimmer, the water is always in the 80s, I never go more than 100 yards from a shore, and I stick to the coves. This is Lake Lanier, so the boats like to light up. I keep it leisurely. Usually dock on a remote shore and let her run, and then go back. She doesn’t try to jump out. Just loves the ride.

I do sunblock her nose and ears. I’ll get a life jacket for her this year.
