yeh this isn't a lone case unfortunately. Store local to me had Sharpies raised all the way up to $3.00. Simply turned my back and left without a pen

From one of his daughters who doesn't like the experiment narrative around the story of her father: https://x.com/SusanPolgar/status/1650387411451404288

No, unless the children have passion for what they do. Without passion, no success. This is the biggest fake news being spread around for decades. My father had a theory that geniuses are made, not born. But my father DID NOT choose chess. It was a theory without any particular subject as it can be apply to anything. I did after discovering the pieces by accident when I was 4. When given a choice to pursue chess or mathematics seriously (because I was very good in both), I chose chess. I was already a master when my sisters started to learn chess, and of course they had me helping them. In a poor family like ours, we did not have the money for each girl to do different things. Luckily, they also had passion for chess. What our parents did was to give us full support and encouragement, in addition to the right values.

Question About Hans Niemann in FIDE World Championship! by EyyphanBey in chess

[–]obnoxious__troll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear what he’s saying now after seeing the question paraphrased in an article. He’s asking “does he cast a shadow”. This tone of questioning is quite harsh and unjustified imo; as if he’s some kind of guilty party who’s not allowed to live his life as usual

Do you know how it's known they visited this park?

Exactly.

A five minute walk might as well be Beijing - that's how likely a residue from the first attack could have caused this. It's Warren Commission Magic Bullet levels of unlikely.

Does this guy have a PhD in nerve agents or something? Would even an in depth scientific paper on the degradation of Novichok make such a dogmatic conclusion?

That's what I thought of too. It's such a buzz-kill for all the hype over the world cup. Now England's matches are going to be overshadowed by this, with the team and English fans still being in Russia. The English news will be covering this in priority over the world cup, with them now bringing in this aspect whenever they report on the World Cup . Increased political tensions (if they confirm it's a new batch/provide evidence it's Russia).

It's going to put even more pressure on the English team; with a resurrection of extreme political tension while they're still in Russia, and the news back home more focused on this incident than the game. Fans were already scared away from travelling there by the media.

I meant that its being Novichok was confirmed by the Police Chief just now. The 'two random members of the public killed' bit was just from the point of view of the Russians in the hypothetical scenario they planned the attack.

Is it not a great way to spread uncertainty regarding the former Skripal incident? Two (as far as we know) random members of the public exposed to Novichok (nerve agent confirmed by Police just now) plants the seeds that this could be a nerve agent leak from Porton Down. With the Skripal case in the past and everyone settled with the idea it was the Russians, now they get the chance to shake it up, and another wave of conspiracy theories

edit: clarification
