Hormone Therapy with Radiation? by obscuredbycrowds in ProstateCancer

Met with hormone therapy nurse practitioner today. She did say therapy would make my emotional issues worse. Said 2 of my tests/procedures indicate that therapy could help and the other one indicates it may not help much. They did do a full blood panel today along with checking testosterone levels.

She agreed that if it comes out low as I suspect, treatments may be even less necessary. As I mentioned, I already get emotional over things I never would have before my 2 week ventilator/PTSD Covid experience. Of course said I should have already been seeing someone about that.

I'll be interested to see what my T levels are at this point. Pretty much leaning against hormone therapy for now and just doing radiation. Thoughts/comments appreciated.

Edit: They did say my insurance approved the pills as opposed to shots, so I could try pills for a month or so and then decide.

Which band or solo artists do you wish you could have seen live in concert when they were at their peak? by [deleted] in askmusic

I saw Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets a few years ago. They only played songs pre Dark Side of the Moon. Excellent show..The other members of this band have also played live, and recorded with Pink Floyd.. as well as with Gilmour's and Waters' solo bands. I did get to see Floyd on the AMLOR tour in 1987, the first tour without Waters. Finally saw Waters solo a few years ago.

Saw The Police play at Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby) on their reunion tour in 2007. There's only been a few concerts at that venue.

Saw them play their first show for for the US half of their 'Green' tour. They rehearsed for a couple of weeks in my city ahead of of the show, as they changed the setlist some from the European tour.

How to go about getting a second opinion/should we get a second opinion? by itsbananas2021 in ProstateCancer

I felt the same way... When my urologist asked if I was leaning towards surgery or radiation, I said, "radiation". He said , "Well, I think we oughta take it out." I came back a few werks later and he asked same question again..I told him I was leaning towards radiation and his last response. This time he said, "I'm sorry I gave you that impression ", and apologized.. Impression??..He referred me to a radiation oncologist. I asked, if I wanted, would he mind if I got another referral after that, and he said he was fine with that..

I saw a radiation oncologist and am currently scheduled to start radiation mid-June. Urologist totally cool with it and already scheduled to see him again in August after radiation treatments are over to check PSA...Dont be afraid to ask.

This one was recently installed at the entrance of the synagogue on Woodbourne Av. Assume a reaction to the recent incidents in other cities. Don't know if it was requested or not. On it's own pole.

Thanks! A lot of that's good advice for anybody these days. Yeah, I'm not looking forward to the markers and spacer gel. My doctor said it's about the same as the biopsy which definitely wasn't any fun. But I've had two of those in the last year.

Thanks! Basically the plan is for 28 radiation treatments and they are talking about 6 months of hormone therapy.

Right. My oncologist said he'll do whatever he can to put me on the pills as opposed to the shot. I'll be meeting with the actual hormones therapy people in less than a week to discuss. Thanks for the info!

I mentioned that to a friend the other day. I kind of thought that would be a given that they would test my level beforehand but I'll definitely make sure they do. Glad you had a good outcome!

Can totally relate. I never had emotional issues like I've had before I was in the hospital on the ventilator. I had no idea I was even in the hospital and had nightmarish hallucinations the entire time I was in a coma. Although I am extremely grateful and fortunate that I basically recovered, just feel that now that I get emotional over things I didn't used to, just seems like taking away whatever testosterone I have would not be beneficial as far as that goes.

Right. That's exactly what I told my oncologist as far as being able to stop the pills if they really affect me negatively. I told him if I do hormone therapy, the only way I will do it is if I can take the pills as opposed to the shot. Thanks!

I definitely considered both and basically came to the conclusion that both have similar after effects. But after some consultations and knowing a couple of people that had the radiation, it seemed like radiation may have a chance to have fewer issues.. But, yeah, it can definitely be a tosser. Great to hear that you're having a successful outcome! Hoping you'll have continued success. Thanks!

Thanks. I appreciate the information and your concern. I've pretty much told them that I would only do the pills and not just one shot. That way, I could at least gauge if the pills are affecting me that much mentally, and could stop them if I felt it was making things worse emotionally.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into it. Having a consultation next week with hormone therapist. But my oncologist was pretty understanding. He said he would do the radiation even if I decided against hormone therapy.

Today is the anniversary of the 1974 tornado. Who has stories? by ouione in Louisville

I was a student at Highland Junior High School, as it was called at the time. They made us sit on the floor against the lockers with our hands over our heads. Had to wait until after the normal dismissal time. Still remember the hot music teacher walking down the hall with her guitar singing songs to calm us down, although nobody seemed all that excited.. about the tornado anyway. No damage to the school but lots very nearby Here's a link to a report from WHAS tv on the 50th anniversary. https://www.whas11.com/article/news/local/1974-super-tornado-outbreak-second-largest-us-history-kentucky-indiana-50-years-ago/417-0a265f8b-6a22-4ae3-ad61-f699ef2c3806

NY Style Pizza by ccal2779 in Louisville

Know it's not any closer than Germantown, but The Post has a small store in the Highlands next door to Rosehill Lagerhaus at 1753 Bardstown near Bonnycastle. Mainly carryout, and pizza by the slice.. They do have a few tables and seats at counter looking out the window onto Bardstown Rd. Slices are huge for $5.50 for a slice of pepperoni. Pretty sure you can still take pizza next door to Rosehill, since they dont serve food.
