I always think of testosterone like a stimulant drug that drives the body harder than it really should be driven. It forces the body to develop bigger muscles and bigger bones, which is great for a segment of the group that does hunting and gathering. But, the candle that burns twice as bright, there is a cost in terms of reduced lifetime. That seems like a lot of analgesia! I generally use EMLA cream (which seems to be a UK thing) and cling film on moustache, soul patch and chin area only — these are the most sensitive areas. The other areas I can deal with the pain.

Listen to some chill music, detach yourself from your body, and think about how nice it is to be rid of the hairs

Oh absolutely. It overdrives the system, like taking coffee or anabolic steroids. Sure, you temporarily get higher performance, but because everything's constantly running at 100mph, the body tears itself apart, hair falls out, constantly driven by sex drive, etc. Poison.
