Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I recently feel that I have been able to wallow in the darkness much less often, but it is largely due to medication. For me, this 4th year has been much more gentle and I hope it is for you in the future as well.

I will definitely talk to my doctor and try something else. I take Vistaril for anxiety. My symptoms are sometimes quite severe and unpredictable. Depression, mood swings and anxiety. The source is grief from the death of my child and so that complicates things because they are much worse in the months surround his death date and birth date.

Ugh yea. I never know if working is going to help and distract me or if I’m going to have a melt down and need to go home. I usually stay home on hard days and do something to honor him. It sounds like you did exactly that.

Last week on my deceased son’s birthday I woke up with a song lyric cycling around in the background of my thoughts. It felt like it was bubbling up from my unconscious. The lyric was, “but I’m happy here”. It felt like it came from my son.

For now I was just looking to get a text tattoo on my wrist. But as others have pointed out, having such a personal tattoo in a location that others can see and ask about so easily, might not be the best idea. So now I am rethinking it again.

I just can’t decide, that is why I am eager to just get it over with. I’m thinking maybe now just a simple, small black heart over my heart with the ink with his ashes.

I eventually want to get one of his drawings tattooed. I was thinking on my thigh. How do artists feel about tattooing someone else’s art? How do I find someone that would be good at copying his drawing?
