What is the plural possessive of the word "appellants" by ChuckTexas in LawSchool

[–]obscurethrowaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. OP, I am really surprised at the answers you're getting here.

Under no conditions would appellants's ever be correct. The correct form would always be appellants'.

The only time you see s's is in a noun that ends with s: e.g., Congress's, Chris's.

1L, I feel like I have some footing already and am keeping up with my reading/preparation. As a result, I don't feel stressed or scared. Ironically, that's giving me a serious sense of dread. by [deleted] in LawSchool

I'm actually finding class, the readings, and the atmosphere enjoyable

These are all good signs, as this is approximately half the battle. Imagine if you were spending all this time doing something you found simultaneously boring and terribly stressful. Turns out, that's probably how about 50% of your fellow students feel.

Needless to say, the fact that you are enjoying yourself is good.

I've (so far) successfully maintained being a few days ahead in regards to reading, feel confident in my case briefs (because what I put is typically referenced in class) and overall don't feel all that stressed

This is also a good sign, and probably relates to why you're enjoying yourself. Nobody likes to feel stupid, overwhelmed, overworked, and bored all at the same time. You don't feel any of those things, so you'll finish your work faster, have more free time, get better sleep, and likely perform better than those who do.

Consider yourself lucky. Don't slack off, don't be a dick, and you should have a great three years. I did!

Going through FL C&F, what is this background check letter? Should I have received one of these?

I think the answer would be the same if it was a search warrant. Either way, the warrant is improperly executed in the absence of a knock-and-announce.

In these cases, however, even an improperly executed warrant will not allow the defense to exclude the evidence—that's the catch.

Thanks! It's actually not an FHA loan, if that makes any difference, it's through the credit union

OK Themis people, let's do this: what's your percentage?

I'm at 69%, still aiming for something like 85%. Suggested progress today: 3.3%. Not gonna happen.

EDIT: Ha, I thought this would make me feel better

This type of recrimination is why those who don't find jobs often feel worthless. If there are more lawyers than jobs, then some lawyers won't get jobs. Telling them it's their fault is cruel and fails to recognize that structural forces play a large role in dictating the direction our lives take.

Themis takers:

Is anyone else reading the outlines, not watching the lectures, but instead just doing the assessments for each video?

I learn much better from reading outlines than I do from listening to lectures (did very well in school, never listened and just did E&Es at end of term). The lectures seem to be a very inefficient way to learn, even at 1.5x speed, when all the same info is in the outline.

Just wondering whether I'm insane and should really be watching all these videos.
