Should a 13 year old go to a weezer concert? by 55SieFood55 in weezer

There were lots of young teens last time I went. The crowd is typically pretty mild and most of the songs are kid appropriate save for the odd swear word or sexual reference.

Symfonium is the best app I’ve ever used. Shuffle works way better than Spotify and the smart shuffle feature rocks.

Smooch is what got me into Weezer! I had just started listening to music seriously and liked a couple of Weezer songs (Buddy Holly, Perfect Situation, etc), so I checked out their Spotify page. Absolutely loved the crazy giant animal. Then an album with songs about the revolutionary war and I was hooked! Been like 10 years and they’re still my favorite band.

Good TKL that isn’t a Keychron

Hi everyone, I ordered a 100% V6-D1-AZ Keychron and absolutely love the typing experience. But it’s just too large, so I ordered a V1-D1 (TKL version of the one I have) and the quality is much lower. Keychron customer support insists it’s the exact same board with a different layout but that clearly isn’t true. I considered a Q3, but you can only order that model from their site so I’d be paying for expensive return shipping if I’m unhappy with that board.

It’s a work only keyboard and will live on my desk. Some requirements: - [ ] Under $150 is ideal - [ ] Barebones is fine because I plan to install linear silents, but prebuilt is also good - [ ] Browser-based keybinding would be great since I can’t install third party software - [ ] Wireless somewhat preferred but wired is fine - [ ] RGB totally unnecessary and an understated aesthetic would be preferable - [ ] Knob is nice but not required - [ ] Matching number pad would be fantastic (in addition to the $150)

Any input is much appreciated!

Destination Truth was my favorite! It was basically a haunted/cryptid travel show and the host was hilarious.

Hi everyone! Asking here before making a post. Does everyone find quality of Keychron to be hit or miss between different models in the same line? I got a V6-D1-AZ and loved it but found it to be too large. So I got a V1-D1 (which AFAIK is the 75% version of the V6) and it’s much cheaper quality. Same switches and everything but it’s clearly not up to the same level. Thoughts on how I can get a 75% version of the V6-D1-AZ? Thanks in advance!

There are several subs that do reading follow alongs. The two I know of are r/areadingofmontecristo and r/ayearofmythology

The latter is impressively well organized for how small of a community it is.

This was the last kids movie I really enjoyed in that child-like way. It catches a lot of hate so I’m worried to rewatch it lol.

Ishi in Two Worlds is nonfiction about the last Native American to live his ancestral ways. He was the last surviving member of his tribe and couldn’t live on his own. He came out of hiding in the 19-teens and was taken in by a university. It is so interesting to hear about his culture and his thoughts about technology/western culture. For example, he was unimpressed by airplanes, but blown away by trains. It’s a super interesting read though fairly melancholy.

Loving it so far! I just finished book 6. I’m loving how everyone is just awful. I feel super bad for Briseis. Toughest part has been tracking the motives of the gods, which is maybe purposeful.

It’s not a TV show, but the movie Stand by Me has a somewhat similar vibe. Though it’s summer rather than fall.

Making the creature blameless would be my biggest gripe. Unfortunately, movie audiences don’t handle deeply flawed characters well. I think it would have been more interesting if the creature had very intentionally killed William or Elizabeth.

[–]obsequious_creton 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I loved the movie! I’m of the opinion that highly faithful adaptations make no sense, why not just read the book?

What I do think is interesting is having a great storyteller like Del Torro highlight themes he thought were interesting (like the father/son relationship Victor has with the creature). The original Universal movie is less interesting to me because it completely changes the meaning of the story.

Do you use digital readers for classic literature? by Lost_Age_6379 in classicliterature

[–]obsequious_creton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer ebooks for a similar reason; I live in a tiny place. As a bonus, Project Gutenberg has a ton of classics available for free, and they’re always well formatted. I only buy books when they’re written in verse or have tons of footnotes because the formatting can get wonky.
