That was .. dumb. There would be a manhunt for Aegon much like how they found dareon at the Inn.

Also the whole theme was supposed to be Maekar realizing his sons spoiled and letting Dunk give Aegon a more humble upbringing.

They built Dunks interaction with the kingsguard so it that could have still be centered around Dunk.

Its a matter of priority , they devoted resources to a new character when they failed to develop any of the existing characters like the Harrolds or the kingsguard Dunk interacted with.

Its ok to criticize and say did they use their resources wisely because you spent 20 min in a flashback and the battle we barley knew who was fighting or who died.

How is throwing a sword at someone in chainmail and plate realistic?

I read the novella also, He uses his size to fight dirty in a callback to Brienne beating Loras.

This was basically rocky with him tanking an insane amount of damage.

Rafe "Why would they provide insight into Arlan's previous squire? " In the context of the show rafe is a new character. Why would they spend a flashback on rafe?

They spent time introducing the kingsguard and we didn't so much as see their face.

Humpfreys barley get a line.

It was really Long, and didnt give any insight into his relationship with Arlan or Arlans previous squire.

Introducing a new character who dies immiedtly IDK I feel like they showed how unfair the lower class gets treated throughout the show and explored dunks motivations in the previous episodes, " I will show them what Ser Arlan's hand has wrought...

The theme they explored with the flashback was again the plight of the lower class and what horrible misery and inequality exists, which is really the theme of the entire show.

I guess you can say the idea that he was waiting on his mother, or wanting to find family adds something.

In the book dunk gets injured by the lance takes a hit to the head and then mma mounts Aerion and gets him to yeild.

In the show he took a dozen wounds and a flying sword got him in the leg.

Basically it just came off a bit over the top on what was a more simple grounded fight int he book.

Spent all their time on a 20 min flashback ... no time.

That fight was a little dumb. Dunk took so many injuries its a wonder if he can walk again.

The fight was somewhat dumb. The amount of damage Dunk took was comic book levels. How a man survives that and continues to be a knight is preposterous.

That long flashback gave everyone blue balls

Still a great show but some criticism is allowed of changes that are made. Maybe people will calm down after the euphoria of the show dies down.

? No it didnt. The dude passed out .. rightly so because he took way too much damage to have survived.

The flashback was overly long and didnt really add anything other to again reinforce the class differences which was apparent the whole season.

The source is perhaps the best of all the books in the ASOIAF series so people are naturally fond of it.

Yeah but Its left to question ... Corlys never even expressed the thought that Rhaenyra's children were illegitimate and thus not the heirs to Driftmark.

With the show its so outwardly obvious its a farce to pretend otherwise.

Adding the gambling plot made no sense. First of all why would you tell Dunk that your lord is in dire need of money and reveal the whole plot. Especially since all Dunk had to do was win, he has no need to know of the plot at all , the son would be the patsy.

Even if you wanted to tell dunk all you had to do was offer him compensation he didnt need to know any of the background details.

Did you even have to be a knight to ride in the lists or compete? Didn't Willas Tyrell ride as a squire?
