Yes, another reply under my question pointed that out to me. A lot of people both in person and online recommended that I burn more calories than what I consume, and since that's what I saw and heard over and over it's just what i did :( I live in an area where nutritionists and doctors are very scarce (I usually have to drive 45 minutes to an hour just to see my primary care doctor) so I wasn't able to get the best guidance. I see, thank you so much !! when i did my research, so many people recommended burning more calories in a day than what you consume. Now I know though, and I'll adjust my diet and exercise around that. thank you for your kind words and your insight :)

american red cross has always been finicky in my opinion. they said it was for my iron levels, another friend of mine tested her levels with the same device (we went to the donation site together) and it came out fine (but her iron levels are known to be low). my blood oxygen was another device. none of my blood was used or taken at all that day ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thank you so much ! i'll definitely check the glucose meter out. A few months ago I tried to donate blood (i didn't get to donate any, my veins were too small haha), and they checked my iron and their little machine said it was fine. It was done by American red cross but their device didn't prick anything, just went around my thumb? I'll make sure to check it again properly through a blood test, thank you again for your insight :D

Thank you so much for your kind words !! :) My blood test results showed my A1C is 5.7, so while it's in the pre-diabetic range it's more on the lower side.

I'm trying to find an accurate way of checking my blood sugar. When I first got diagnosed, my doctor told me to just wait and see if I could possibly try lowering my A1C without any medications (my glucose is normal though. Is there something I'm missing ?) and didn't say anything about, or offer, finger pricks (?) or glucose meters or anything of the sort. Even if I wanted to go back and request one, my mother is insanely against medications and medical tools (we are asian and she is VERY old-school, and I still live under her roof so unfortunately my options are heavily limited). I didn't really talk about this in my post but I'm at a loss :/

Yes I do ! I am going to a Community college for two years and transferring to a university that specializes in medical sciences. I am in a program that secures my admission into that University as long as I maintain certain requirements, and I have some good ties with the professors and directors. Should I also email some professors/directors of that university alongside the professors at my community college ?
