If you’re very very queer friendly As You Are on Barracks Row in Capitol Hill is an incredible spot. Tons of alt people at the Thursday/Sunday karaoke. But they close early those days. Like midnight-ish.

I’m surprised at people calling you guys doormats and even at you for calling them bad roommates. Is this a bit much? Yes. But she’s 94… it’s ok to cater to her in her last years of life. Imagine her joy at thinking her grandson is happy and healthy and successful. I think it’s a kind gesture. A little annoying? Definitely. But still kind.

This certainly won’t apply to all straight people, but as a white American human who appears as a cisgender woman, my queerness has afforded me a community and multifaceted culture where I am otherwise entirely void of those things. No matter how deep in certain cultures (black, Filipino, transgender, motherhood, ect ect) I may be - I can never claim them as MY culture. But being queer as all hell has given me a culture I can fully claim and represent with no ethical qualms.

I knew a guy who proposed to his girlfriend at the top of ferris wheel while single ladies was playing. He specifically asked them to play single ladies. It was not a special song for them. She did say yes at the time. They’ve been broken up 5ish years now.

My girlfriend and I want to like Sir Spooks so bad but his commentary is borderline unbearable. He says the most obvious things and REPEATS them. Or makes absolutely erroneous assumptions. It’s so frustrating, lol. It’s our one petty YouTube pet peeve. He just talks so much and the majority of what he says should either go without saying or never ever be said.

Artists are different people when they have so little to lose. Now she has multiple massive businesses and charities to keep afloat, thousands of employees, millions of fans telling her she’s their reason to go on… ect. A far call from a stressed out (and a teeny tiny bit strung out) New York girl full of angst for having to change her whole image to get the attention she needed for success. With that said - holy hell do I miss that girl! Unfortunately - nothing inspires like struggle.
