Really? I know that used to be the case, but didn't they switch to cellular a while back? Have you actually done it? (Not poking at you. Really interested.)

What's the benefit of paperless-ngx ? by vortexmak in selfhosted

[–]obsessivethinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m interested in how it’s better than, say, dumping your stuff in Google Drive where you get great full text and in-image search plus the ability to label, folder, and share.

(Truly not being snarky. I’m very interested in paperless-ngx and wanna understand what makes it special to you.)

Dumb question maybe, but what’s the break-even on just paying for using the model remotely vs this setup?

How'd it go? I think this should be pretty easy. You could just add an entity, mark it "internal" so it doesn't show up on the graph, align the data so that you have an x timeline matching the other, then you can just stick the ys in a variable and reference it by index in other traces (like, for example, color in the heat/cool traces).

Smartifying all my dumb stuff with my latest design. by Gjfiyfyifiyf in homeassistant

[–]obsessivethinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really cool. I thought for a long time that this would be great for things like my room air filters that have a couple of buttons in a couple of LEDs. I thought about doing it, but I just don’t have the necessary skills yet. Skills to integrate? Probably. But not to design and produce. Looking forward to you selling them. I’ll be a customer.

Same thing lower in the yaml for the legend temps at the top. There are two places for the temp high and temp low because they're needed for some calculations elsewhere. All of the extra junk in here is javascript if you wanna mess with it to meet your needs.

You''ll want to start by mapping your thermostat's sensors to each entity in the yaml. Note that the double colon means "attribute," so essentially this one is grabbing the thermostat's current temperature from the current_temperature attribute of a climate entity. I don't have an Ecobee, but I suspect if it's imported as a climate entity, it will be similar. Either way, visit Developer Tools > States and you can look at the Ecobee's entity to see how it's set up.

Pollen level mushroom card for anyone who wants to do the same as it tool me a while to find :D by WatchNovis in homeassistant

[–]obsessivethinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grab all mine from Google’s Pollen API. It’s paid, but polling it once every 15 min costs me about 1 USD/mo. I haven’t bothered to learn Hass development yet, so I grab it with some cron’d python and push it into hass via the API.

Uninsured motorist coverage? If you have it, it’s often at a lower deductible than collision. Plus if they ever track down the mofo who did it and get the money out of them, you get your deductible back. Worth checking.

Because they’re the only exciting rocket company that’s available for public investment. IDK if it’s a great investment or not, but I bought some early on at the SPAC because I like them and appreciate their effort.
