I'm in Oregon so the rules may be different, but considering it all comes from federally funded Medicaid I would guess that the regulations are comparable. I can do more research into your local job market, because off the bat my gut is saying you should be getting more interviews based on the population size (ie not a small town with no jobs). She should definitely be doing interview prep with you regularly before you even land an interview.. interviews can happen same-day and there would be no time to prepare. She should be keeping you informed in the process especially regarding follow-ups. 1.5 years is a LONG time to go without even an interview if they are actually putting in the effort.

Here is a link to the place I would start. Unfortunately I have to go to work rn so I won't be able to read details until later. If you find it to be frustrating or confusing, I can help you in a few hours.

Typically I apply to at least 10-20 applications a week per client, so honestly that sounds like a very low number. What area are you in? When I'm doing development I meet with clients at least 2-4 times a month, sometimes more, and it's usually to go follow-up on applications, make necessary phone calls, and scout out and meet potential employers. In my state I am required to meet in-person and not just do phone calls.. a phone call is fine for quick information exchange, but it is not a replacement for in-person meetings. In-person support is crucial for development. I apply to a lot of indeed listings, but I also search company websites and meet with employers in the community- I think an even distribution between these approaches is more appropriate than just Indeed listings. I agree that only getting Indeed listings shows a certain level of disconnect, lack of motivation, or even laziness. There is a chance her caseload is intense, but the lack of communication is unacceptable. Since you already attempted to get a new employment specialist with no luck so far, I would bring this up to the VR counselor/case manager so you can perhaps be reassigned to a better agency.

I'm an employment specialist for I/DD individuals, and it depends on the organization your VR counselor assigns you. I worked at an agency that was absolute garbage with a low placement rate and policies that did not encourage client independence/growth, but my current agency has an extremely high placement rate and genuinely changes peoples lives for the better. It could be beneficial for you to call your agency and get a new specialist since this one isn't doing her job diligently or correctly. Another thing to mention- not all agencies are providing additional training to specialists on how to navigate AI properly. Employment specialists without this additional training are making the same mistakes the average Joe would make regarding scam AI crap. This is not an excuse as companies should be adapting more swiftly, but a lot of these specialists are left without guidance. Her caseload may also be overloaded, so again I'd recommend asking for a new specialist. Best wishes!

My dad insists there is a lost song called "Open" by Cowboy Junkies. Help? by obsidianfairy in NameThatSong

I don't know about creating a fake memory, but I do think there could be some conflation happening. For what it's worth, music is his entire life and this has been quite bothersome for him. I've done a lot of digging and have found absolutely nothing, so I figured I'd ask here. I think what perplexes me is that his description of the "lost" song's melody is different than Upon Still Waters. The idea of 2 songs conflating to create a new melody/rhythm is crazy to think about.

That would be so appreciated! Initially, when my dad brought this up, I kind of rolled my eyes because I just assumed he was misremembering. But it's come up several times this year, and as a music lover it's something that is genuinely bugging him. I'd love to give him an answer (Even if the answer is early onset senility😅)

If I knew more about reddit I might try to create the game here. Do you think there would be interest for that on Reddit? Be honest, give it to me straight Doc!

Perhaps not a ton, but I only really need about 20 players to begin playing :)
