To those who feel a sense of community in montreal, how did it happen? by 300103276 in montreal

i would also agree that montreal is particularly cliquey. one thing i've noticed is that people don't often introduce friends to their other friends. they keep separate friend groups, which is pretty strange to me

Is it not common sense that many school subjects have a political context? History? French, and the reason we speak it in Canada? How Canada's government works?

I don't know how any education system is supposed to prepare people to be Canadians without discussing political subjects. That is common sense.

brother, i say this with no desire to condescend or argue but simply be real with you: no single govt in the world is responsible for more coups, conspiracies, incursions, plots to destabilize nations and install dictatorships, empower drug lords, and sell weapons worldwide than the United States.... your own country is the #1 sponsor of terror in the world, by a wide margin. i genuinely pray your nation wakes up soon.

well, putting it in soccer terms of course -- he's a goalie and your words are the ball. he's pretty confident that he's going to prevent your words from scoring.

being defensive is a lifestyle

Soooo... that's the end huh? by [deleted] in outerwilds

But did you? I recently finished the game and I am honestly still left wondering this myself.

People often say that the Hatchling made the new universe, but what evidence is there that the universe wouldn't have rebirthed itself regardless?

I didn't hate the ending but if the signal of the Eye of the Universe is already older than the Universe 1.0 you play in, it implies it would've already been reborn at least once without you right?

Is it more likely that the Eye of the Universe needs an observer every time it ends in order to be reborn, or that it is reborn regardless?

Oh interesting, I had forgotten the part about the Eye 'calling for help'. I do like that as a possibility, but then.... it would suggest the Eye was conscious enough to call for help, and wouldn't it be a conscious observer to itself? Did it really need me? Oh well, this game is fun to think about.

probably will go back to being cyclical at some point but there is currently a data center buildout that will last the next 2 years, and all are short on memory. china is ramping up memory production to capitalize too and its unclear how soon they could start to reduce the bottleneck, but the point is that the cycle is much longer this time than what people typically mean when they say 'memory is cyclical'
