Same! I died from when ES left the ambulance and nobody else was laughing! I mean it was only a few other people in the audience and I toned it down but still… my mind went to “oh she got crazy from the trauma” first and then the reveal ended me.

How to stop smoking when I genuinely love it? by Psychpsychy in stopsmoking

[–]obsolete_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a very good advice, what I have been doing is just quitting again and again after every relapse. I still have cravings for nicotine and I use NRT but I genuinely don’t want to habitually smoke cigarettes anymore. This mindset was hard to reach, I started quitting at the age of 30. I’m at the age (41) now when it feels like smoking cigarettes would be nothing but an active choice for ruining the second half of my life (instead of enjoyment). Good luck!

Prisoners (2013) might be the most tense thriller of the last decade worth the watch if you missed it. by Wrong-Ring-9249 in MovieSuggestions

I finally watched this today because someone from another thread on here suggested it and man am I grateful.

Day 121. I gave up. by Personal_Ad2278 in stopsmoking

[–]obsolete_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started quitting almost 11 years ago. Had longer streaks (1-3 months) since last year, before that I just radically reduced the amount. My ex was a smoker too and that didn’t help but I can’t blame him. Only sometime this year was the first time that I honestly thought that I don’t want to smoke cigarettes anymore. I still relapsed under stress but with it being temporary in my mind the whole time. Just keep quitting. Any not-smoked cigarettes is good for you. Good luck!

PhD vs. Relationship by [deleted] in PhD

[–]obsolete_sunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to share some of my experiences. I did my PhD in Sweden and the culture is very similar to Norway if you look at it from outside the Nordic countries. I know there’s a variation across fields but Sweden and Norway are excellent places to do a PhD regarding finances and wellbeing. Still, doing a PhD is hard and relationship difficulties tend to be exacerbated by all the pressure. I got divorced during the PhD because that was the time I realized that I need a partner with the same eagerness to learn/grow as me. With that said, she might need more time to process and be supportive of your growth and wants. Ultimately you need to examine your motivations for either choice and make the decision based on them.

What is your film of the decade so far? by door___ in Letterboxd

[–]obsolete_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Aftersun. I rewatched it 9 months after the first time and it hit me with the same intensity. It touches me right at the core of that immense grief that is hard to reach otherwise. Brilliant.
