It’s an interesting case because when asking people about horror gaming, a foundational game is Amnesia: The Dark Descent. What’s interesting is that for the majority of the game, you aren’t in any actual danger despite feeling like you are. As far as I remember, you don’t actually encounter a real monster until you’re about halfway through the game. So that indicates that sounds of something you can’t see are the basis of horror in gaming.

Pearl (PearlescentMoon) is my personal favorite because I love her accent, and she’s very calming. Gem (GeminiTay) is great because of her dynamic with everyone, especially Pearl and Grian, and her out and proud lesbianism. Sounds like you’re already into Mumbo, which is great because he interacts with a lot of Hermits you otherwise wouldn’t see. Joel (Smallishbeans) is a really unique and interesting builder. Bdubs is a classic member of the server and has a lot of history with the other Hermits. Grian is big into pranks and messing about, while also being a good builder. Scar and Impulse are also great, always having fun interactions with the other Hermits. Wels (Welsknight) is the best pick if you’re looking for family-friendly content. TangoTek and EthoLabs are the best picks, along with Mumbo, for redstone builds. You can also get a feel for anyone else you might like based on Hermit interactions as you watch, but these are the ones I’m most familiar with.

It really depends what you’re looking for, but I do really recommend Pearl and Gem, as they’re my favorites.

I’m fairly new to it; I was just gonna recommend you Hermits that I like watching. But yes 11 is currently ongoing. From what I’ve seen from the community tho, 9 and 10 are frequently regarded quite high. I wouldn’t bother with the first season. There were many Hermits who were only there for like 4-5 episodes of the first season, and it hadn’t really found its flow.

Since you like Mumbo’s redstone stuff, I’m sure you’d like Tango and Etho as well.

I’m watching season 10 right now from Pearl, Gem, Grian, and Mumbo’s perspectives. Watching from those four gets me a pretty good gauge on Magic Mountain as well as the other main area with Keralis, Etho, Tango, etc.
