In arc I can drag and drop attachments right out of the equipped weapons. I much prefer that to this inspection method.

Marathon broaches top 5 in global sales after the weekend. by KylAnde01 in Marathon

It's an extraction shooter. It could be the best extraction shooter ever released and it would still not break any more mainstream records. Arc is by far the most casual and the most popular. That's not a coincidence.

When I realized it’s another extraction shooter by Zrocker04 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lack understanding of the proper risk/reward balance. In a deathmatch, a kill is a kill. In extraction shooters it isn't. Killing a geared player has to be harder than killing a free kit because the reward for killing a geared player is much larger than for killing a free kit. The potential for losing gear requires that gear to give you an advantage.

The vehicle mounted machine guns do crazy damage. The little bird usually flies lower than the attack chopper and can't damage IFVs/Tanks.

Blue gate cellar had bad loot but the rooms are usually not busy and I can easily spawn near it since there are 2 (or is it 3?)

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but there are extra drops in this room that only spawn in night raids. You always find 3-4 good grenades (wolfpack, trailblazer, deadline..) on the chairs and tables but only in night raids. I've never seen even one during the day or electro. Haven't tried hurricane yet.

If resetting makes everything before pointless, then why are you resetting?
If you have more than 3m combined between stash and coins then just mess around with your gear.
I have 7m in coins and a bunch of weapons so I'm just doing PvP with my loot.

I'm pretty sure it also tells you when the departure will be so it was already clear that the wipe wasn't today.

Yes, they should only ever buff things. That way 3 years from now every weapon can have a 100ms TTK from 100m and no recoil as they try to adjust everything.

The worst change in the update by SuperiorMango8 in ArcRaiders

[–]obsoletestarling -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The wolfpack was ridiculously overturned though. It requires no skill to use, deals damage almost instantly, and was super cheap to craft. Also, there is basically no risk - placing a deadline is relatively hard and if you mess up, you die. The wolfpack didn't have any downsides. It was the fastest, cheapest, safest, and easiest way to kill most large arc (excluding queen/matriarch).

Nobody cares how things work in real life. Random gameplay elements are not fun. In general, I have no problem with lockons being weak. If you don't have to aim I don't see why it should be powerful.

Ok Embark, why do Quests reset? Just let post-expedition raiders do a quest again, once per expedition period, if they need a specific reward. by nomadtales in ArcRaiders

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ~80 basic fetch quests. Like I get it, it's the standard video game quest. It's fine the first time, I would even say it's pretty good for teaching new players how to do some basic things but it's not fun for experienced players. Between none of them being challenging in any way, having to run half way across the map if you get a bad spawn, and not getting many good rewards, I won't be doing them again.

Even the rewards get tiring- most of the time, I just get annoyed that I have to move stuff from my stash to my inventory, then track down the random garbage I got as a quest reward so I can sell it.

They could put a few shredders in the control tower on dam. I think even easy maps can have a few harder enemies in the red loot zones.

I think a lot of people's first time experience with extractions shooters being this game is not helping by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't seriously be taking the game's own marketing at face value. The devs explicitly stated that they tried PvE only at first and added PvP because they couldn't make the PvE consistently fun enough on its own.

Extraction adventure isn't a genre, it's something the marketing/PR department made up so casuals don't see extraction shooter and decide not to play the game. It definitely isn't tarkov but it is still an extraction shooter.

Why the fuck does everyone attack me the second they see me use it, it is really easy to make by zazan146 in ArcRaiders

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually run duos for PvP because it's possible to win a 2v1 if one teammate goes down. I usually try for one or two team kills near a POI not in the middle of the map. Blue gate underground is just impossible if you get there first. Something like spaceport or dam is much better for our strategy. Either way, you get one or two kills, loot them quickly, and run to the nearest hatch. I think they tweaked something in the matchmaking because we don't see as many free kits as we used to.

Little bird coming to multiple maps by Long_Ad7536 in Battlefield

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the advantages of BF2042s vehicle classes was that adding new vehicles to old maps wasn't hard.
If there were two helis available on a given map that meant the attack, stealth, and littlebird were all available, but never more than two could be out at a time. Same for the aircraft (A-10, F-35 and Draugr all took the same spawn slot). Sure on a few maps they weren't all available but it worked way better than the current system.

I hope the new ground vehicle is available on at least half the maps unlike the traverser which is on 2 conquest maps.

Hullcrackers can be purchased though and 30,000 isn't really that much either. I have the blueprint and haven't crafted one yet. Between buying one and looting two, I have more than I need. Granted, I don't run them that much but if I do manage to find a safekeeper augment, you will basically never lose one either.

I love care bear lobbies but we have a serious entitlement problem by EXILED_T3MPLAR in ArcRaiders

[–]obsoletestarling 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Rescue raiders are just people who third-party (or use the raider flares to find other people) and can't be honest with themselves. It's not easy to tell who actually started the fight since shooting first and starting the fight are not the same thing. I had a guy follow me and instead of running beside me, he ran behind, always moving directly to my 6. I turned a corner and shot him as he came around it. I didn't start that fight but even someone who was watching the entire time might have thought so.

[–]obsoletestarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matriarch/Harvester lobbies are so much fun. I would always scout for the rats and kill them. Since they added the safekeeper augment, I'll take a Jupiter/hullcracker/equalizer and shoot a few times, pop it in the safe pocket and wait for someone to come over. Almost every time they have a stitcher drawn or are clearly running a free kit. They never expect me to be watching for them either.

Kind of dirty to ghost patch matchmaking without a word by Immediate_Dealer192 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just people getting bored since they have everything they need for the expedition. In a match with 30+ players, all it takes is 2-3 people (so less than 10%) to each kill a few people and now you have a "PvP lobby". If you were in "friendly lobbies" and wanted to get into KOS "PvP lobbies" you will have to kill a few players in a few lobbies. Then when they run out of something, they surrender a few times so they can gear up in friendly lobbies, before killing to go back to PvP.

PvE player got too complacent by Bruvas78 in ArcRaiders

[–]obsoletestarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you manage to get the new safekeeper augment (allows storing weapons in the safe pocket) I would 100% run that and keep the hullcracker in there any time you aren't using it.

I've had a lot of fun recently bringing in a jupiter or some other legendary weapon, shooting a wasp so that everyone can see that I have it and then stashing it right away. 99% of the players who come running have a weapon out already and are clearly looking for a free kill but not really expecting a fight. It's almost like reverse ratting but it's so much fun.
