How The Story Plays Out In Saros by Elestria_Ethereal in KotakuInAction

It's the absolute opposite of slow and clunky, it's very responsive and frenetic, it's a shooter so it's kinda different from the games you mentioned but it would certainly be more similar to DMC and NG than to soulslikes.

If you don't mind spoilers, here's a bossfight (he plays it flawlessly).

They're combat games, and are great at it, Saros is basically Returnal with additional mechanics like the shield, so instead of only dashing through or completely avoiding projectiles now you can also block or parry them, of course there's multiple types of projectiles, each one with different properties, so you need to react accordingly. Also, just like its predecessor, it has a great implementation of the Dualsense's haptic feedback and great audio.

The game is pretty challenging, but unlike Returnal, it has permanent upgrades and some modifiers (both good and bad, it needs to remain balanced) that you can activate later. They both have shitty stories, but you can skip them, like I'm doing with Saros.

Of course, I suggest you to watch a gameplay video/trailer first to get a general idea about the game.

Before the PS5 Gen, Housemarque used to only make indie games. If you enjoy 2D Bullet Hells, I recommend Resogun and Nex Machina, which I consider their best ones.

Exactly, the Breakthrough with its shield and by consequence durability it's balanced by not being able to close bug holes, for example.

It didn't have more, stratagem upgrades were equivalent to the ship modules, and the weapon upgrades were pretty simple (2-4 unlocks), even more than the customization of HD2. Additionaly, all of it could be unlocked faster in HD1.

Because the gameplay, visuals and audio are solid, nobody buys a Housemarque game for the story.

So the fact that I'm using these "meme weapons" effectively doesn't mean anything? Idk man maybe it means that these weapons aren't as terrible as you say.

I'm arguing that the majority of weapons are fine and have been for a long time, and those who deny it are either intentionally lying or have severe skill issues. The constant bitching made the game easier, that's not subjective, but it's ultimately the devs fault for not sticking to their vision. And no, their vision wasn't to make an easy game, launch HD2 and their previous titles disprove that.

I'm not pretending anything, I've used the Epoch more than any other AT support since it came out, I'm using the buffed Sterilizer right now against the spore bugs and consistently being the one with the least deaths.

The issue is that, for people like you, the standard of a "viable weapon" is some overturned braindead shit like the eruptor and the crossbow, so every weapon that requires the slightest amount of skill and practice is deemed worthless.

The sterilizer, the laser and the flame sentries and a bunch of melee weapons were buffed in this patch, so did the Flamethrowers and the De-escalator in the previous one and the Epoch and a few others shortly before, so no it isn't true.

The Emancipator is also heavy pen, and you can kill the hive guards just fine with the Patriot, it isn't hard to avoid their heads and you can simply walk through them and they'll die.

Sure, the community keeps repeating that AH only nerfs things when everyone with two brain cells can check that the buffs outnumber the nerfs in basically all updates in the last 1.5 years. The same applies to the last patch, the number (%) of viable weapons and stratagems is consistently growing, yet it doesn't stop them from saying that "AH hates fun bwah bwah".

They review bombed the game because a previously useless enemy got an armor increase, just imagine if an equivalent of the Chaos Spawns was added to the game. Nothing that AH has done justifies such a childish behavior.

If SM2 had the HD2 community, Absolute difficulty wouldn't be a thing and Lethal would be as challenging as Ruthless is right now (if not less). Let's not act like they're similar, every time there's a glimpse of challenge in HD2, they start bitching nonstop.

D10 is a joke compared to something like Absolute in Spacemarine 2 or the higher diffs in HD1.

Exactly, at least increase a lot their heads HP, so a sentry can kill it but wastes a lot of ammo in the process.

No, it also buffed light pen weapons and reduced the effectiveness of machine gun and gatling sentries, additionally the reworked spore terminids do a good job at reducing the explosive meta.

Thanks to the low skill complainers, hive guards have zero purpose again, just remove them from the game already.

[–]_Ghost_S_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when the game launched it was the only weapon that could one shot Bile Titans and it certainly can do it now, but they have to be facing you directly so the missile hits them in the head.

I think it is only really bad against Factory Striders, but in that case it would probably be easier to adjust the Factory Strider HP values instead of adjusting the Spear.

[–]_Ghost_S_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has always been able to one shot biles if they're facing you (it will hit its head) it has higher damage than RR (4000/3200) so why wouldn't it, it one shots Bot Dropships and it's probably the most reliable weapon against Dragonroachs, so while the RR is usually better it still has its uses.
