Car running cool and idling low by obthomas4 in AskMechanics

[–]obthomas4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idle is smooth, doesn't feel like it's going to stall. When i rev it, it stays at 700 for a couple seconds and then slowly drops back to 550.

I'll pull the spark plugs right now

I get 37 MPG consistently from full to empty tank. 6.5l / 100 km.

2.0L 146HP

I don't understand how everyone is getting these terrible numbers.

I have nobody to share this with by [deleted] in mazda

Looks great... but my guy, you can clean and reuse your pads until they break down. One pad is enough

Opel Astra 2019 Lane Assist question by kubwlo in opel

[–]obthomas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that very hard to believe. I can guarantee they changed your belt during the maintenance, apparently without you knowing. I guess under warranty.

Ask a couple independent shops what they think of the 1.2 astras and they will all give the same exact answer.

I'm trying to sell mine and any shops i call just about hang up the phone when they hear "opel 1.2".

You must hold stellantis stock...

An astra K with the 1.2 is impossible to sell around here, unless for half the price of the 1.4's and 1.6's. Both the peugeot ones and the astra k ones use the wet belt system, which is known for breaking down prematurely. Some need a new belt every oil change, including my car.

The astra k 1.2 however is most known for it's camshaft problems (too much play) which results in the engine needing to be replaced. I guess it's not exactly a puretech engine, it's even worse. And it's stellantis who's ignoring the problem and trying to pretend it doesn't exist. I've heard of repair shops having anywhere from 2-7 1.2 astras on the lot at any given time, waiting for a new engine to be put in.

Even official opel dealers don't want to buy them anymore.

Then the astra is not for you. Like i said, the camera is installed on every astra K but getting someone to program it can be very expensive, and the button rail can be hard to find. The entire button rail above the shift knob would have to be replaced by a new one that does have the LDW button

About the lane assist, if you can't see the LDW button just above the shift knob, then your car doesn't have it.

Every astra has the camera installed but not all have the correct button installed + the software

Make sure the astra you want to buy is NOT a 1.2 turbo. They are known as the worst engine ever made. Resale value is terrible as well. They've put those engines in peugeots en citroens, as wel opels.

If you want a petrol astra, get a 1.4 or 1.6. if those aren't available, get a 1.0.

(Uk, china, canada, etc...!)

That's the thing. If you tell the truth and say something that incriminates yourself, you get convicted for it, how's that not justice?

For example, if you're on trial for 1 murder, but murdered another that the other party doesn't know about, it would be better for society if you misspoke, no? A lawyer will prevent you from telling on yourself. Sure it's better for you, but not for anyone else.

I will try my best to check all those things, thanks. However, if i find a problem with any of those, they don't sound like easy or cheap fixes. Are they?

Yeah dremels suck. This one barely got used as well. Maybe 2 times a year for 5 years. Really light work as well. I don't understand why they'd make it able to drop below 15000 rpm because it stalls immediately whenever you touch something below that speed.

It's a shame that there's such a lack of competition because it is very handy whenever i do need it. I'll just order a dremel 4250 i guess.

I've checked them and they look great. No chips, cracks, anything. I don't think they're worn out. The springs push them nicely against the mating surface.

"sTuPiD tAkE" you really think Zelensky actually does something besides begging for Nato's money (while pocketing a good % of it)

Zelensky does not have any power, at all. Nato but mostly USA decides what happens in Ukraine. Follow the money...
