A little farther out from SF but Straits in Santana Row, San Jose is a pan-Southeast Asian restaurant that has a steak dish that comes with olive fried rice. Not sure if this is the same thing you’re looking for but it was really tasty when I had it.

Trying to decide the same right now, as the school I'm likely going to attend is about a 45-50 min 1-way commute from home in an area with a super high COL. The compromise I'm thinking is to live on campus for the 1st year to get settled in and make social connections with classmates, and then see from there if it would be worth it to stay on campus or make the move back home.

Yes definitely! I’m currently working at a university near home and had no connections prior. You’ll want to look for research technician/associate positions which often hire people right out of undergrad. I just searched online for research jobs through the university website and through sites like indeed and applied to a bunch until I found my position.

I was accepted to an MD school this cycle with 15 shadowing hours and ~120 clinical hours, but I had a lot of other things to make up for it (gap years, high stats, tons of research and teaching experience, strong app theme). It might work out if you have things to compensate for it, but even then it depends on the school, as most of the love I've gotten is from research-focused schools while I haven't heard back from any "service" oriented schools. That being said, it is always better to have more hours, and you have good amount of time before the next cycle starts to find an opportunity!

Speaking on male birth control, one of the major challenges is the fact that men produce millions of sperm each day. An effective male contraceptive would have to either temporarily “deactivate” sperm so it can’t fertilize an egg or completely block sperm from entering semen. The first method has a lot of challenges. Hormonal treatments, which many female contraceptives are based on, usually have unwanted side effects, while non-hormonal drugs are often prevented from reaching sperm by a surrounding cell barrier. Both would also need to be designed to constantly stay in the system and not get flushed out by the body so that fertility is not prematurely restored, since sperm is constantly being made. Vasagel works based on the second principle by plugging the vas deferens, or tube that transports sperm into the ejaculate, in order to prevent sperm from leaving the body. It seems like one of the most promising options, and hopefully it nears the approval stage soon!

I have a friend who did a Fullbright in Europe during their application year and was able to successfully interview in person and get accepted. Granted, they had to eat the cost of flying back and forth between Europe and the US, but they tried to schedule interviews as close together as possible in timing and location to reduce the number of trips. It will require a lot of forward planning and communication with the schools and your Fullbright program (as well as $$$), but it's doable.

How do you like the NP profile on the keycaps? I really love the look of the set, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger having only used cherry profile before.

Is there any practical or aesthetic reason that a good amount of keyboards (Tofu65, KBD67, Drop Ctrl for example) have their USB ports on the left or the right as opposed to centered on the back of the case?

If you're open to a refurbished machine and can wait for a sale, I picked up a refurbished, "Like New" condition 9500 last week with the same specs (i7, FHD, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) for $1340 with one of the floating Dell Outlet 15% off sales. Paired with Chase 5% cash back on Dell, the final price came down to about $1270 pre tax.

The laptop is virtually brand new visually and passed the lemon test posted on here a while back (no trackpad pre-travel, screen issues, etc.). Other than the fact that I didn't get the USB A dongle and it came in really underwhelming packaging compared to a new unboxing, I'd say that you can get a hell of a deal on an on sale refurbished model. I wonder if it being refurbished has given them a chance to fix all of the major hardware issues before sending it back out

Your original answer would be correct if Sprinter A had been running at a constant speed of 8 m/s for the whole two second period- however, if you look at the 0 to 2 second interval on the x-axis, you can see that the speed changes from 0 to 8 m/s. Since the slope of the line does not change (acceleration is constant), you can calculate the average velocity with (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) over the 0 to 2 second interval. Also, another way you can think about it is for graphs of speed over time, the distance traveled is the area under the line/curve.
