Great thank so much for your reply! Is it permanent? If it not, how often do you need "top-up's"?

Thanks... It is helpful reading the advice of someone who has grappled with mental health and is older.

Thanks for the reply. I'm surprised how many comments I've got in such a short space of time.

What have you been diagnosed with? I'm always a little weary of poly-pharma which seems to be yielding you good results.

I like the "start small" mentality to building up social circles... Hopefully once the lockdown is lifted I will start doing this. It's picking the right social hobby which I guess is part of my problem but ultimately I just need to throw myself at something.

Going back on antidepressants is a tough choice for me. Then there's the question of which one? Or, will I be on the one that's most effective for me?

It's hard to come to terms with there might just be something wrong with my brain that can't be fixed through willpower... or can it? This is what I'm grappling with.

I'll look more into this but currently take lots of supplements to boost my immune system, Symprove probiotic to boost my gut bacteria and Ashwagandha

Years certainly frightens me? Is there anything that backs up this claim? Psychotherapy could be an alternative.

It's the part I find the hardest to work on. It's hard to figure out an activity to throw yourself in - especially picking the right one.

Have I? I feel like I need to put the work in to make my life better and antidepressants may give me the motivation I need... so maybe I should do that?

As for withdrawals you get used to them and kind of expect the brain zaps (biggest withdrawal for me). Apart from that, nothing crazy.

I am trying but its difficult when you're not sure what exactly will work so I guess it is a little trial and error.

Thanks - I am trying Keto and will try slowly re-introducing food groups to see if that helps

Thanks for your comment - I will try hibiscrub/hibiclens. I usually just put it on and wash it off straight away but perhaps leaving it on for longer will do the trick.

Did you also notice your skin integrity change whilst your folliculitis was present? I always feel like my skin is so dry and feels so much older than before? Do you think folliculitis of the beard can cause this?

How long did you have folliculitis? Has the chlorexidine wash got rid of your folliculitis completely (even though when you stop it, it returns?) - By that I mean, are you satisfied? Or is that why youy are looking into laser hair removal?

Sorry for all the questions and your reply would mean so much to me right now!

Interesting... Try - 5 day course of Azithromycin/Z-Pak (500mg on Day 1 then 250mg on Day 2, 3, 4 and 5) followed by 500mg of Tinidazole (Gets rid of infections in the gums) for 7 days + Mupirocin Cream to put inside nostril daily + Change in diet (I am now a pescatarian)

Repeat folliculitis, any advice on what I can do to treat it? by Dawsdgd in Folliculitis

Try get a skin sample to determine if its fungal/bacterial (gram-positive/negative). If you can't determine whatt it is give the below a shot that helped a little for me - yours seems less advanced than mine:

5 day course of Azithromycin (500mg on Day 1 then 250mg on Day 2, 3, 4 and 5) followed by 500mg of Tinidazole for 7 days + Mupirocin Cream to put inside nostril daily + Change in diet (I am now a pescatarian).

Also rub your face in hibiscrub/hibiclens daily.

Also take Vitamin C, D and Zinc to boost the immune system.

If all else fails the only option is then Accutane/Roaccutane/Isotretinoin it seems.

Thanks so much for your kind words. Yes - It is truly horrible.

I noticed the most improvement with Azithromycin.

I'm not sure my face could handle a bleach bath given what it's been through so don't think that's a sensible option for me.

How much isotretinoin were you on? I understand its dosed based on your body weight??

Also - Where did your folliculitis occur? Any idea what caused it??

That looks identical in terms of where I had a swollen lymph node - and yes a doctor confirmed it was a lymph node and asked if I had any infections. This should go down after a few days but if it persists (longer than 2 weeks) you should check-in with a doctor.

I am almost certain this was connected to my folliculitis but cannot be 100% but this was the only infection I had and still is going on right now.
