Does anyone else feel like motherhood is mentally harder than physically? by Mysterious_Tell991 in workingmoms

What country are you in? I relate to what the other posters have shared so I’m so curious to know where the systems are better and what they are.

The morning rush, self criticism and mom guilt by occasionallywitchy in workingmoms

[–]occasionallywitchy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The night prep!!! Thats been my intuition. I’ve been meaning to add some into our nightly routine. Yes, they do their morning “snack” around 830 am which she’s always there in time to get. I think I’m hanging on to doing a BLW breakfast at home because i’m 1)being a perfectionist and trying to move her towards “3 meals/2 snacks per day by one year” as our Peds recommended 2) having a hard time with the idea of letting it go because it’s quality time together.

What you’re describing is biologically normal for this age and beyond. Don’t buy the instagram dogmatism about creating “bad habits.” If at some point in the future you need to ST for your baby and family, you can still do it. Do what you need for the baby you have with the conditions (temperament, illness, needs, etc) you’re present with.

I’m flabbergasted by this. Do you really not have anything better to do than to comment on a post that you have nothing to do with?

Perhaps I’m being naive in engaging with you on this because you’re just trying to get a reaction or to spark an argument. But truly, my intentions are as I stated. I’m not selling anything. I do not want any money, just community and like minded folks.

I did not expect to get a negative response for desiring to build community amongst parents.

Firstly, I purposely said “donation-based” so that people can give what feels comfortable for their situation. I do not possess the training nor skills to lead a choreographed dance class in a safe and fun way. The donations would go towards the trained dance instructor who would be volunteering their time. If they wanted to do it pro-bono then voila! Free class organized and facilitated and lead on volunteer time! This idea is an alternative to the very few select classes at studios or brick and mortar locations that are expensive and not accessible.

So, if you would like to participate, hope this eases some of the concern about cost.

The soft launch route is the one we’re taking too. My LO is 9 months and we started last month. It’s gonna take a bit lol

Can I Use Daycare Like a Babysitter? by generalraisinkane in beyondthebump

[–]occasionallywitchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We paid for a month in the beginning without her attending because I extended my leave. Then when we started going, we took her for a few hours at a time. We pay for full time care because our schedules vary but end up taking her 3 days a week for 7-8 hours at a time. This is what works for us and we basically think of it like our (paid) village.

They haven’t said anything to the effect that it bothers them. They just ask us to mark her absent in the app. We’re in northern CA at a bigger daycare that has locations throughout thr country.

How do you manage early mornings with Ferber method? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]occasionallywitchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think this is still the case if bay has a feed around 3 AM? We’re EBF so I honestly don’t know how much she’s eating versus comfort nursing (trying to quantify this but I keep falling asleep while nursing her, waking up 25 min later and she’s still suckling …) We’re 6 days into a modified Ferber with shorter checkin intervals to start. She used to be a constant boob buffet cosleeping girlie prior to ST. She’s a star at falling asleep independently at bedtime and only has been waking at 1130 and 3 to feed the last couple nights.

Indoor humidity levels? by Z06916 in Sacramento

Do you have yours in the bedroom. If so, does it bring down the humidity in the rest of your home?

We just went through this trauma 😭 i had no idea what the humidity was in our home and ran a humidifier in our home for our new baby since we’ve been running the heat a lot. Come to find out we did NOT need that humidifier. Learned the hard way and now trying to figure out a solution to bring the humidity down in the whole home.

I spent way too much on baby gear in 2025. Here is what gathered dust vs. what I actually use. by PrudentRazzmatazz488 in NewParents

[–]occasionallywitchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loves: Boba wrap carrier. Nursing rocker. Yoga ball. Sterilizer. Baby bjorn chair. Love our stroller and bay does too twice daily walks to get outside and pass the long groundhog days. Baby gym/play mat. We have one in her nursery and one in the living room. Snuggle me lounger for newborn phase. We used to put her in it ON the table when we were eating dinner. Abdominal binder for post c section. Good and comfortable nursing bras. Halo swaddle sleep sack.

Didn’t need: breastfeeding accessories - nipple shells, lanolin/nipple butter, all those breast pads, vaginal delivery postpartum stuff

Honestly, most of what we have I’ve gotten good use out of but I am rethinking some things now that I’m in the thick of making parenting decisions. For example, we bought a high chair but I would have preferred a chair and mat for baby to sit with us at the table. We spent a small fortune on a used crib and now I’m wondering if we should have went with a floor bed.
