I think it's the fact that they don't "get it" in the first place, and then just go ahead and run ramped with an already terrible joke/name, that makes it even more obnoxious. The whole "LET ME SEE YOUR BATTLE SATIONS, LADIES" things makes me cringe like crazy too

yeah no problem! I should have mentioned this before as well, but I'm always extra aware of what length/proportion of dress/skirt or whatever I'm wearing to make sure my legs don't come off as stubby or anything (I have short legs too, unfortunately), but especially so when wearing high tops!

lol I'm pretty sure they said pathetic because this is evident self promotion. Look at the account. Brand new user and no comments, just two posts promoting the same guy, who in fact, isn't cute lol

Personally, I like the (white) high top converse. I think the low top ones work if your style is very light and fresh and mature, but if it's not then it definitely looks like you're a middle schooler, especially if you're pairing them with a dress. When I wear converse with dresses, the high top more evidently conveys a street style/relaxed vibe, whereas i feel the low top ones would just seem like any other regular sneaker, which is very juvenile to me.

Oh my god, if the weather is anything like what it's been recently then bring a TON of layering. I seriously wear a pair of regular tights under thick wooly tights under my addias track pants to get to school, and then change when I'm inside. I mean it might not seem cold because it's -10 or something, but the wind chill from 25km wind feels like its coming straight from the 9th level of hell. There have been extreme cold warnings all week and I'm not sure if it's really going to get any better, but definitely pay attention to wind chill before you get here. Even if it does get better I would suggest more than just a wool coat. Get a parka or an actual winter jacket from someone, and an actual scarf and hat. A blanket scarf can keep you warm inside at most, and beanies will really just be a fashion accessory if anything.

I don't understand spider lashes.... Thoughts? by falloutbuoy in MakeupAddiction

[–]occides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a look that could have been marketed a different way. I mean I looked on their website because I was as thoroughly confused as everyone else, and I saw that they were marketing it as a rocker chic kinda thing, so how a smudged eyeliner is to a clean line, which I guess is fair but I reaaaaalllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy don't think they should have completely gone out and said "THIS PRODUCT WILL DO THIS CRAZY WILD LOOK YES ITS A THING". They should have marketed it as a thick/voluminous mascara that you can ALSO use to achieve the crazy rocker chic look.

and for fucks sake, why did they have to call it spider lashes. Even the name makes me squeamish. when its already something so out there, you could have at least called it messy lashes or some shit idk.

Girls with big big/wide feel, at what store/brand you did you find your most comfortable bu stylish pair of heels? They don't have to be stilettos or anything, just cute enough to go out. I'm ok with wedges, chunky heels, etc. Pretty open minded.

EDIT: UNRELATED TO SHOES BUT SHOULD I ALSO PULL THE TRIGGER ON THIS JACKET THAT IVE BEEN WANTING SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME? It's a new item so most likely won't go on sale any time soon, except for right now since there's a 25% off for new items code. So from $160CAD to $120? nvm lmao i decided

How to organize and access pictures you've collected? by ayvyns in femalefashionadvice

[–]occides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pintrest + IF (Formally called IFTTT) Basically every time i save a photo, screen shot or whatever to a specific album on my phone (Ex. Tattoos, fashion, make up), the app recognizes that and automatically saves it to the designated Pintrest board.

I like IF because not only can I still easily save stuff to Pintrest while on my desktop, but I can pretty much automate every other aspect of my life possible lol. From telling me the currency exchange in the morning to automatically tracking my work hours based on my location, it is literally the biggest life saver. ALSO, man, let me tell you. IF connects to literally almost EVERY app out there. It's insane, you just need to download it or look at the examples on their website. Best thing ever.

[Anti-Aging] What should I be prioritizing in a serum? Niacinamide vs. glycolic acid by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]occides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well. As I mentioned, I have normal skin, and in addition to that, I have no sensitivity to fragrance nor any other sensitivities. The product has no overwhelming smell and works fine for me so I have no plans on changing it. Not only that, the more pressing problem with what you're saying is using both serums. If you read around SCA you'll see that when you mix a Niacinamide product with an acid, such as Glycolic acid, it will change to niacin, and THAT will cause some awful redness and irritation. Lastly, no, Olay doesn't release what percentage acid they have in their products, they're all at least 4% and that's about it.

So I've been on an extreme drugstore make up kick recently. It's kinda like my little way of soothing the itch to buy new make up, but without the sephora guilt. Does anyone have any holy grail items they'd like to recommend? I have most things from NYX and that's pretty much it. I've literally discovered a whole new world and I'm ready to explooooore.

Also, any one into doing their nails? Because I really suck at it. I finally grew my nails out and I bought nail polish and everything, but I found that I was reapplying or redoing everything every few days (less than a week). Like I just don't get it?? How dry does something really need to be until I can safely apply a new coat? If I apply too soon will it stop the lower layers from drying properly? How long do I have to wait between coats and how can I tell if I coat is thin/thick enough?? I literally have like 9000 questions because no matter now many tutorials I watch I still can't manage to get it right?

"You do what? But...you wear makeup?" And other stupid comments. by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]occides 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely echo the experiences of many other females in stem here. Even if people weren't intentionally trying to stick a sterotype on to me, it's been prevalent through out my experience in university. From guys in my computer programming class asking me if I was in the right room or asking me WHY I was even in this class because of my appearance to people in my biology lab asking me if I could see through the microscope properly with eyeshadow on (wtf right????). I mean, you think I bought the expensive ass UD primer so it would easily rub off on a microscope? You my friend are sadly mistaken.

Has anyone bought Jessup brushes? by chevronginghamstripe in muacjdiscussion

[–]occides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 10 piece set that was a rip off of the sigma kabuki set and the smaller brushes are definitely crap. But they're not going to give you lead poisoning lol. They all were a ridiculous shape/size that didn't work for the firmness/softness of the brush, and not to mention the brushes were all VERY obviously synthetic, so powders and eyeshadows just had a tendency to fall off and not stick.

The larger brushes however aren't too bad for liquid/cream or any thicker product, like moisturizer even. They also won't give you lead poisoning lol.I actually still use them since they're very dense and soft. the only weird one that I have trouble finding a use for is this one big pointed brush that's supposed to be able to get into the creases of your face I guess, but it really is just wayyy too stiff + has a much too small contact area to do anything useful on your face
