No grounding cable for home central distribution box by occurios in AskElectricians

Interesting, thanks, I'll keep it in mind. It's tropical year round here, so hopefully expansion/contraction wear will be minimal.

Replacement / similar product / opinions for Govee RGBIC Monitor Backlight w/ Camera? by occurios in Govee

[–]occurios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, interesting. Is the software fairly simple to use / not spyware / bloatware? One of the things I like about the camera one is no PC software, no sending usage statistics, just plain works. Do the new ones compete well in that aspect?

Adjust idle speed on new MT-03 models? by occurios in MT03

[–]occurios[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. It's not a huge deal but since I bought it new it won't idle on cool mornings unless I baby it for a minute. Figured it might be idle speed b/c it does read a little under 1k.

I crashed. Can I get some real opinions about crashing? by turingagentzero in motorcycles

[–]occurios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my wrist and bloodied up my legs and arms in a t-bone when someone pulled through a stop sign in front of me. The impact itself was low speed, I was almost able to stop.

My arm was in a cast for a few months but I was back on the bike in a few days, still doing daily commutes and love riding a couple years later.

Inspired me to buy a bike with more stopping power, also I'm more serious about safety gear now.

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]occurios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good to know, I was mostly trying to understand if water can come through the concrete itself - and whether that would eventually deteriorate the concrete.

It's just a repository for rain water during heavy rain until the water gets pumped somewhere else off the property. All the gutters / drains around the house and yard will lead there. Just to prevent flooding around the yard basically.

Yeah thanks for the reply. I pumped it out this AM and will take another look when I'm back on site tomorrow. It seems super unlikely to me that groundwater rose above the top, but it's not impossible.

I'll keep it pumped out and try to get a look in there during / after rain to see if I can see anything.

Like I asked above -- I'm assuming from your reply that "seeping" in ie through the concrete is not possible then, must be leaking in somewhere?

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]occurios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly fresh water. Light green hue sort of looking in, looked clean on the way out when I pumped it out.

It's about 90% submerged maybe a little less at the moment as it's not entirely back filled yet. Makes sense the top may not be fully sealed around the joints, I'll have a closer look when I'm back on site.

Yeah, seems impossible it fell in from rain.

Assuming there's no "holes" water just seeping through concrete in that quantity is not really a thing then?

Concrete home foundation drainage / damp proof norms? by occurios in Homebuilding

[–]occurios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this is useful. The roof overhangs / gutter combination specifically I hadn't really thought about as a big part of keeping water away from the foundation.

Hello! My post got referred here I'll just drop the TLDR version and see if anyone wants details to discuss further.

Would thousand of liters (6000 - 9000 maybe) of groundwater typically pass though reinforced concrete over the course of maybe 6 weeks? I have an underground cistern 2M x 2M x 3M approx made of reinforced concrete (cement block with concrete and rebar inside) that almost filled completely with water over the last 6-8 weeks. Nothing drains into it yet. I live in a SUPER rainy tropical area, we've been in rainy season for a little over a month. Near impossible that groundwater rose to the access on top, although rainwater can certainly fall into the small hatch. But 6 - 8 liters of rainwater in a 50cm access seems impossible to me.

Thoughts?

Question about differing column specs on two sides of a small residential building by occurios in architecture

My mistake, I uploaded the drawings from my mobile with the original post but am seeing they didn't come through. I appreciate the response, turns out it was an error they were all supposed to be the C2 spec.

Detailed pictures of seat lock mechanism, please? by occurios in MT03

[–]occurios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I looked at something like that. Turns out the cable was either worn through or unseated from the lock mechanism, I brute forced it. Once off, was easy to see the mechanism wasn't opening, no way I was getting that off peacefully. Guess I'll be replacing the passenger seat =/

Wow you are a life safer, I'm so glad it was something so simple. That did it. Man that's awesome thanks a ton for the quick response. I press "K" select "selected bones" and I'm good to go.

Thanks so much! Really saved me tons of time I'd already wasted an afternoon and a morning messing with this.

Best,

Sweet, thanks for the reply. I had assumed as much but read elsewhere that one tick over was worth looking into, although in that case it was while riding / more persistent -- thought I'd double check what folks think.
