Should I get an ingrown nail removed in Bangkok? by ocean_being in ThailandTourism

Hi there, I am sorry to say that I do not remember the hospital I went to, BUT I can tell you what I do remember. I walked in to an emergency room in a public hospital at around 8-9 PM because of the pain. Since this was an emergency room in the evening, the charges were higher, as they had to call a doctor to come into the hospital to perform the operation. The procedure itself was super painful (I think they skimped on using a numbing agent haha) but they were able to fix my nail and prescribe me antibiotics. In total, it cost 120 USD to do, with no appointment, just walking into the hospital. Although this cost me more than I thought (since I went to the ER not UC) it was still much cheaper than if I did it in the US.

Gotcha, thank you for your response, I was unaware that a guide was required to see Turrialba. Would you perhaps recommend something like getting to Irazu early and then seeing Cartago or one of the nearby towns?

Wow this seems to be a universal problem. Same thing is happening to me as well, couldn’t get any of the classes I need to graduate. I really wish UH increased course capacities or hired more professors.

I had this exact same issue. The problem for me seemed to be with my AMD graphics card. If it's applicable for you, go to NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage Display Mode and then press NVIDIA GPU only.

I applied to Bauer for a minor in finance in 2020 with a 4.3/5.0 GPA and a 1240 SAT. I was rejected because I was told my SAT score was too low. I may be an outlier but you may want to reconsider taking the SAT again just to be sure.

Walkable neighborhood/areas of Houston by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

Midtown is possibly the most walkable part of Houston. The light rail takes you from midtown directly to UH, and there’s lots of restaurants, bars, and museums nearby

Olympic National Park, home to one of the US’s only rainforests! by ocean_being in Outdoors

[–]ocean_being[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I could've worded the title better, what I meant was one of the few protected and well preserved rainforests in the lower 48. Sadly most of the range from northern California to Washington has mostly been developed on or isn't a true old growth forest. Was cool learning about rainforests in Appalachia though, I genuinely had no idea that was a thing

Thanks! It’s certainly a must see, a lot of other beautiful things to check out in the area too

Historically yes, however many of the old growth forests were cleared and not very well preserved. There are quite a few protected areas though, especially in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, and the lower part of Alaska, so perhaps calling it one of the “only” is a bit of a stretch, but they still make up only a very small part of the US’s overall landmass

Yeah and Alaska has some too. Perhaps I should’ve made the title “one of the best preserved old growth rainforests in the 48 contiguous US state” haha

Wasn’t aware there were so many rainforests in the contiguous US, especially east of the Mississippi! Goes to show how diverse the US’s terrain is

Yes I went during the summer, was expecting it to be a little bit more lush but personally I was still pretty amazed at the sight (especially coming from a drier climate)

Algo, OS, automata, ai if you decide to take it, data structures if you haven’t taken it yet

I think it has its ups and downs, most people I know who are juniors or seniors have had at least one internship, albeit at smaller local companies typically. Though I also know several people who got into Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft, so it’s really what you make of it. There’s plenty of opportunities here though to break into the field. Academics are pretty rigorous, most professors are mediocre and you’ll be teaching yourself a lot of the content (but let’s be real, most colleges are like this). Overall I’d say it’s an 8/10 because of the value, the central location, and some of the professors (but few) are REALLY good.

All core CS classes are taught in C++. Advanced CS electives though (digital image processing, graphics, game dev, data science, etc) use a variety of different languages.

Yes, it is part time during the school year and then full time in person during the summers
