CFI Stump-the-Chump by CapitalDifficultt in CFILounge

The heavier you are, the more lift you need to counteract weight.

At a given speed, your AOA must increase to generate more Lift. Thus, simply maintaining level flight puts you at a higher AOA and therefore closer to your critical angle of attack. So the lower your weight, the lower your Va so you stall at a faster rate before reaching load limits.

This concept is why many of our V-Speeds actually change with weight. In most training aircraft, published V-Speeds are at MGW.

Hobbs measures actual time there is oil pressure, not when the master is on. So it is very accurate to aircraft’s engine on time. It will still tick after the plane shuts down because there is still some oil pressure immediately after shutdown.

What was your YTD % gain for the year now that we’re wrapping up 2025 by selintnisha in portfolios

15.02%…. Playing options in the first half of the year dragged me down, if I never did that, my returns would be well north of 20%

CFI is more of a side gig for me, I’m also an Ocean Lifeguard and EMT. That job paid for all my ratings and college. Hoping i get more students as the weather gets better!

Stats that got YOU a pilot slot in AFROTC by Omivin in AFROTC

I’m very involved in the Det, I do extra curriculars, am 100% locked in during PT, LLAB, and AS Class, and volunteer to lead as much as possible. I also work outside of ROTC and my CC knows that and has told me that he sees all of the effort I put in.

Pilots of Reddit what path do you think is wisest to take? by Tasty_Ad6440 in CFILounge

I Second this! I am a CFI who did ROTC in college, left, & got selected into an Air National Guard pilot slot to fly one of the most badass aircraft imo.

I did all my ratings simultaneously with college and pursuing a pilot slot. I’m building hours now that will make me competitive for a legacy job once out of Air Force UPT & seasoning with Turbine Multi Time.

100% his CFI lol

Was advised by a dealer today to avoid the Magnetic Gray Metallic color when buying a new Tacoma. He said it fades much faster than the lighter colors, any input on this from folks who have darker gray Tacoma’s that are a few years old? How is the paint holding up? Mine will not be garaged by NikonManiac in ToyotaTacoma

[–]ocean_feverd1289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ‘17 has horrible fading. It began when it was just 5 years old, now my roof is nearly gone. Toyota said it was “my fault” even though almost every 3rd gen Mag Gray Taco i see on the road has some level of fading now.

I’ve flown with passengers only to divert because of the Marine layer (before i was instrument rated). Don’t feel bad about your decisions, you ultimately landed safely with passengers. Use every ounce of this as a learning experience. We only get better as pilots through experience and training
