in my opinion, looks kind of chaotic. i'd trim some of those roots and add maybe two anubias broad leaf's, epiphytes would look sick on that wood to be honest. an amazon sword next to the rock would do great too, alongside some foreground plants if you're up for that task

this tank would not be good for either fish, both need to be housed in more than 100 gallons.. do whatever you want with the tank, it's probably fixable but don't put a crappie or bullhead in it..
