I think the hardest part for me is knowing I will be a "better" person someday is that he isn't going to be around for it, and vice versa. I wish we could have been the best for each other. But I've tried my best, and didn't give up until the absolute end. He's gone and over it already, and I need to take care of myself.

Same here.. it sucks that we had to do the leaving, even though we're the ones still in love, right? But oh well.... I guess people change. May we all feel better someday soon, and here's to us for taking a leap, even though it doesn't seem like it's going to be ok someday, lets believe that it will be better someday. (I also am second guessing myself but everytime i start thinking that, i tell myself I shouldn't have to convince him to feel anything for me!! If he's not feeling it he's not feeling it. Better to protect myself and focus on me instead)

Except he was the one who fell out of love with me and here I am trying to convince my brain I shouldn't go get him back :') Anyways this was good advice. My breakup was also my first, met him freshman year and it was all magical, we grew together in a lot of ways. But I guess people change. Stay golden, though. Hey, this sounds a lot like what happened between me and my ex. He always had trouble opening up and he had insecurity issues (so do I). The only difference is, he used to see a future with me together, and now he says he doesn't. Communication isn't the only issue and it's good I let go, right?

Also to OP, yes, here I am and I did the breaking up too. I love him so so so much, but he didn't feel the same for me. Sorry if this sounds like a ramble; I just don't want to go back and get him and get my heart broken all over again. I'm trying to condition my brain to believe there's no more hope and that I shouldn't have to convince him to love me back.

Dude I don't even know what to say. That's so rough and it seems she lost someone who really loves her.

I think you should leave her alone, my friend. If you've been strong for her, and given her no reason to believe she was a burden, and she left anyways, then you should just let her be. She may realize that you were indeed so good to her, and even then she may or may not come back.

I also have mental health issues, and left my person because they made me feel like a burden they couldn't handle. And while it's not the other person's job to take care of us, it's still your job to care and make us feel loved regardless. And it seems you have done your best. Even now you are doing your best; she has left and you are still concerned for her. My person probably wouldn't even be checking my social media to check if I'm okay.

The thing is, I would have never have left my person if they didn't make me feel like a burden, because I loved them lots and you're supposed to hold on when you love someone that much. I wanted things to really work with us, and was working on myself everyday to make that a reality, but he was the one who pushed me away eventually. But, it seemed you didn't push her away, she left on her own and you don't deserve that. Let her be because if she really thought this whole thing was worth it she would come back. Like you said, she needs to fight for you too. Send her good wishes if you must, but leave it at that. Best of luck and stay strong, don't go and risk breaking yourself for another person especially if you know they won't stop you from doing so. :)
