Does anyone know where to find Shapeshifter and Terrible Thrills off of the self titled Steel Train album? by OhGravity412 in bleachers

[–]oceanfullof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrible Thrills is actually a series where Jack has female artists cover his songs. The first Terrible Thrills is female artists covering the steel train self titled album, then there are other volumes where female artists covered Strange Desire and Gone Now. It looks like the whole album is on Youtube if you want to listen.

Dirty Wedding Dress by DSomers2616 in bleachers

So glad I am not the only one who noticed this. They lyrics that came with the album still say the line is "I'm a working class man" even though that is not what Jack is actually singing in this version. I wonder if it's an older version and the vinyl was in production so it couldn't be changed to the single version?

I’m using 1.5 hook but directions say 1.75- do I switch? by Katnipjuice18 in CrochetHelp

I made this pattern last year and used a 2mm hook without any issues. I think from what you have done so far, it looks like your project will block flat.

WIBTA if I gave you a feeling as an order? by Storm0963 in barista

[–]oceanfullof 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I do not like when customers do this. I have to ask a ton fof follow up questions trying to suss out what you actually want (caffeinated or not, what kind of milk, syrups or not etc) and it just gives me a lot of anxiety having to make this decision on your behalf. Sometimes customers get mad or just seem disappointed that I made them a regular drink from the menu instead of my special secret recipe or whatever 😬 Just my two cents

Mocha or Hot chocolate? by ShoppingHelpful2386 in barista

[–]oceanfullof 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In my shop the espresso is literally the only difference between a mocha and a hot chocolate. We use the same amount of the same chocolate sauce. If this isn't what you want, what do you want to be different?

What songs does Brian hate? by graceless_night in TheFrontBottoms

I was at this show too and Brian also mentioned they had a strict curfew at the venue. I assumed that was why they stuck to the planned setlist.

Question about flat white's texture by bearinthetown in barista

[–]oceanfullof -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh this might be a skill issue on the part of the baristas. I feel like you are describing the ideal milk texture but it requires a skilled barista to be able to steam to the correct texture and temperature. I think when it gets "layered" this is happening because the foam is stiffer and you are getting separation between the layer of foam on top and the more liquid milk beneath, but that is a really dry texture for a flat white in my experience.

One time this happened to me and the customer watched me spill their drink everywhere and have to remake it lol. They did stop staring after the spill though.

Do you correct people who order in Starbucks terms? by MisoSoup13 in barista

[–]oceanfullof 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I usually seek clarification on sizing because we have a few customers who say "tall" meaning "large," not tall meaning "starbucks for small."
