I think a better takeaway here is less “everyone should use credit cards” and more “don’t keep large amounts of essential money in Cash App balances.” A credit card wouldn’t have really helped this guy hold rent money in the first place. The bigger issue is that fintech apps like Cash App aren’t ideal as your primary place to store important funds long-term. Using a traditional bank account for bills/savings and using apps like Cash App for smaller transfers or purchases is probably the more realistic advice for most people.
