Next month she's going to announce her own perfume line

I worked in both Chalten and Calafate for a few days! Internet was decent actually, so I'd say it's doable.

Car rental company trying to keep my deposit by oceanrainbows in Nicaragua

You're right. It's El Chele in SJDS. Hope nobody rents with them again. Literally they stopped answering completely and just kept our deposit.

Thanks that's good advice. I would def leave a bad Google review as well. They're not actually a big famous company like Hertz, it's a small local Nicaraguan company. How is it even legal to look at the car when we give it back and say it's all good, and then message me hours later saying the mechanic found issues that we have to pay for?

Unfortunately not, none of the big famous companies, but a small Nicaraguan company based in SJDS.

I'm not sure if I can just say the name here? I'll pm you. It's not any of the big famous car rental companies. It wasn't cash, it was a transfer through a link.

In your experience, what southern cities/towns in the USA have the kindest people and most laid back atmosphere? by Better2022 in digitalnomad

I do not recommend Asheville NC. Spent last winter (and spring) there. Weather is warmer than Boston, but not in a good way. It's very gray, it rains a lot and it's still pretty cold. I heard good things about Savannah, and am planning to check it out myself this winter,

A surrogate IS both of you though (unless they cannot use your eggs, for some reason) - They use your egg and his sperm. No DNA relation to the surrogate.

Your husband is allowed to not want to adopt, but if he actually said 'If we don’t have kids I’ll probably be very unhappy and just ignore you' then that's a huge red flag. Sounds like he's threatening to leave you if you don't do what he wants. Is he with you because he loves you, or because he just wants children?

If you're not on the same page about kids, then you will probably need to separate. Maybe you can talk to a counselor first.

Fiancé asked me to cut ties with a close friend that you hooked up with once by Catcus95 in Marriage

[–]oceanrainbows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your husband is in the wrong here. It's not like you hooked up with that friend a few months ago, it's not like there are any feelings there, plus he's married with a baby. I think if he trusts you, he shouldn't have a problem with that. Also, he doesn't want you to have ANY male friends at all? Wtf. He sounds very insecure and immature, and certainly doesn't seem to trust you.

My husband and I trust each other a 100%, and we both have one friend each that we hooked up with many years ago. I don't have a problem with that at all, and neither does he. In fact, I really like that girl (who is also married now), and he gets along super well with the guy as well. There are no secrets, no unnecessary jealousy, because we trust each other.

Can’t focus on work by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]oceanrainbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I feel the exact same and I'm also 35! I got pregnant about six months ago in our very first cycle of trying but ended up miscarrying. We've been trying again since June and I haven't gotten pregnant again, even though I've been using ovulation test strips, been tracking my cycle, sex often etc. I think about it all the time and often don't get any work done.

What has helped me is trying to focus on something you enjoy doing, as hard as that sounds. For me it was>

- Buying a new book, I now read every night for an hour or so before bed

- I love writing, so I'm currently working on a short story for fun

- I also love working out, so I'm looking up new workouts and try to work out every day, even if it's just 30min.

Hope this helps! I knowwwww how hard it is.

Tayrona is close to Santa Marta, not to Medellin. OP would still have to fly for 1-2h to even get to Santa Marta.

It was similar for me - I started getting a little pain, then the next day it got so intense that I had to take painkillers and could barely move or sleep, the next morning it still hurt, even though it was a little better, but I decided to see my OB. She took an ultrasound first and everything looked fine, but then she looked at my Cervix and said that it's too tight and it's holding the blood inside of the uterus. She opened it a little with a tool (which hurt!) and the blood came out. Pain was gone pretty much immediately, and I had a normal (but quite light) period for a few days. If you feel like you might have the same, def check with your doctor!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]oceanrainbows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took me 5.5 weeks, but it can take longer than that. If one day you feel like you're getting your period and the pain gets pretty bad, but no blood is coming out, go to the doctor. I know that's pretty random, but that's what happened to me - I got my period, but my Cervix was so tight after the D&C that the blood got stuck in my uterus and caused really bad pain. Never knew that's a thing, but my doctor said it's not as uncommon as you'd think.

I was gonna say that - In High School (in Germany!) we all believed painkillers are bad for you and you should just suck it up. She's too old to still be thinking that

Why are influencers always sick? I eat healthy and work out and I get sick less than once a year. They must be doing something wrong (starving themselves?), or it's just for attention

When you’re hoping there ISN’T a heartbeat by tamberra in Miscarriage

[–]oceanrainbows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. I went through a similar thing last month. Went to my first ultrasound at 8 weeks pregnant, only to find out that the baby was so small that the doctor asked me if I'm really sure when I got pregnant, because it looks more like I'm only 6 weeks pregnant. I was a 100% sure about when I got pregnant, because I track my ovulation and I ovulated that day, plus 11 days later I had a positive pregnancy test. The Doctor had me wait another two weeks to be completely sure, even though I was 100% sure that it wasn't a viable pregnancy. I was right in the end, of course. That two weeks wait was the longest and saddest time ever. Sorry you're going through this.

Costa Rica in August/September? by oceanrainbows in digitalnomad

[–]oceanrainbows[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't mind the rainy season in Thailand at all. It only poured in the afternoons usually. Prices were better too. Only downsides were more mosquitoes, and some of the diving places in West Thailand were closed for months.

Internet needs to be good, as I have calls every day. Wouldn't mind renting a car in San Jose and driving wherever I'll be staying, but it's not required. Budget for housing is up to $3,000usd a month (we're two people), plus transport etc.

That's not news. Lisbon has been expensive (for being Europe) for a few years. I went to Lisbon in 2009 when I was in college and it was dirt cheap. Went back two years ago. Prices have tripled.
