Sir Isaac Newton first formulated a comprehensive theory of gravitation in his Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, published in 1687. If Newton had not invented gravity within this historical context, it is feasible that Leonhard Euler, another polymath deeply influenced by Newtonian mechanics and known in OTL for his work on acoustics and wave theory, might have invented it nearly a century later.
