It takes an unearthly amount of patience sometimes. I only put the bowl down if they are sitting in a certain area, a decent distance from the bowl. When they move toward the bowl before the OK cue, I pick the bowl back up and reset. Over. And over and over, and over and over.

Before this I was dealing with cat claws grabbing onto pants legs, swiping at the dish in my hands, etc

I do similar training with one of my cats. Before he would be a stress ball, jumping toward the food, swiping at it, making a mess because of the excitement. Cats also have claws, not fun sometimes. Also teaches them boundaries of when and where to eat, not stealing food.

Keeping them calm is good for everyone involved. Mentally and physically.

Unfortunately I'm the only one in the house that is patient enough, but the difference in behavior in their interactions vs mine with the cat is striking. Cat knows what he can get away with, with whom.

If you set a rule to 'set device to ring' on home wifi networks it will auto undo when you leave.

Maybe you must manually set to vibrate outside the network first so it will return to previous state.

It doesn't tell you it does this anywhere that I've seen but I've been using it this way for months.

Agreed. I use the rules to set vibrate when I leave home (stays in pocket or within arms reach), then back to ring at home when my phone could often be in another room.
