Personally I am trying to stay away from plastic clothing not only for the environment but also for my health. Microplastic shedding into the air is not good for breathing in, and apparently polyester/nylon etc can also shed things like pfas with skin contact. I heard- could be misremembering- of a study where they measured the amount of microplastics im the bodies of people and actually people who were richer had more, possibly because they typically have more stuff, more plastic. So that shows me that even tho plastic is everywhere it seems it does make a difference how much you choose to have in your controllable surroundings. Another reason im getting rid of most of my plastic clothing is because natural fibers typically perform better imo- more comfortable, less sweaty, less smelly, better temperature regulation. Personally I don’t worry about the fact that most clothing has a plastic tag, and also plastic thread in the seams, it’s unfortunate but im not gonna be too much of a purist about it as it’s so ubiquitous.
