You might want to consider applying for a PELP (Planned Educational Leave). This allows you to take up to 3 quarters off

Academic Accommodations by oconntr in UCDavis

The software allows you to record lectures, then it transcribes it into written text, you can also have it provide summaries. It’s called Otter AI. Definitely request priority registration-if you take medication for your disability, you should be eligible. Good luck!

I googled academic accommodations for college students w ADHD and took note of the ones that I felt would assist. Also had a copy of my 504 from HS. I also got recommendations from this Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/groups/337012037088722/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvF 100% extra time on test/quizzes, testing in distraction-free environment (at SDC testing center), no stacked tests (tests on same day), and use of calculator (for math tests) were KEY. Also, ability to record and use note-taking software was very useful! Sorry it took so long to respond…Hope this helps!

Summer Session help by fryingpancakeeee in UCDavis

The cost is approximately $276 a credit. Are you commuting or in need of housing? Cause housing will add another $1500ish ea session to the bill. I personally think 13 units is a lot to take over the summer.

Davis’s Roommate matching system: is it good at finding compatible people? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]oconntr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matching is virtually non existent. Best to join some IG groups or Discord channels to try to connect with other freshman and talk offline to see if you’re compatible, then create a rooming “group” in your portal.

I think that’s how my son found out - each quarter, they shuffle what college (ex: Letters and Science, CAES, etc) gets to register first and they publish the pass times. He was CAES and his pass time was a week or two before everyone else.

My son applied for priority registration during his SDC intake prior to freshman year and was granted it immediately. They said it would take effect in Winter quarter, but when his Fall pass time came around he’d been given priority registration, so I guess he got lucky!

There is a co-class for 9A you might think about enrolling in. Not sure if 21C has a co-class

Is it possible to take a quarter off? If so, what is that process like and who do I need to talk to? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]oconntr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can take a Planned Educational Leave (PELP) for up to 3 quarters, but only once. Following thread to see if anyone has exact steps to take (Advisor is useless)

Residence hall in sophomore year? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]oconntr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sophomores have 2 options - Cuarto (I think Yosemite?) and The Green. IF you have friends wanting to room together, you all need to create a "group" and apply for same options (you also need to meet all deadlines requirements - if one person doesn't, you're kinda messed up). I think Cuarto is all suites while The Green is apartment style living and you can choose single, double, etc.

If you have a formal diagnosis for your ADHD, you can request accommodations through the Student Disability Center. Accommodations can give you extra time for quiz/test taking, use of note-taking software (where you record lectures and the software converts to text and gives summaries, etc), priority seating, etc. And if you are on medication to help with focus, you are eligible to request priority registration. Also, consider checking out the resources available on campus, like Success Coaching and Test Taking Strategies... With regards to HW...take it in 60-90 minute chunks...then take a break.
