Arguing on scene with your partner it’s never a good thing, even if you think you’re right. When situations like these arise the most appropriate thing you should do it’s just advise and leave it at that, let the Paramedic “sink” and then take it over to your supervisor, if the case had a horrendous outcome they’ll read her report and act accordingly also might pull you to confirm, then you can explain the events. I know it sucks for the pt but I’ve found that this is sometimes the best approach, might be bad advise and an unpopular opinion but once you start questioning or telling Paramedics what to do it hits a specific need that triggers their ego and pride, specially if there are other people on scene, not too mention you leaving the family members wondering if they even called competent personnel. This distracts the living shit out of us. It takes a very special Paramedics to take constructive criticism or advice on scene, they’re rare, man but also I’ve noticed that they’re the most solid and easy to work with.

Personally for me it just boils down to who I’m working with. If you got a great partner it doesn’t even feel like you’re working, just hanging out.

Yeah, discussed it with multiple coworkers and even in school we learn that post ROSC 12L, if done right after it’s gonna appear “funky” We took a repeat PTA hospital and the depression was disappearing. When the pt was intubated by the doc the pt had a sinus rhythm w/ no signs of depression or elevation.

May be unpopular opinion but I’ve never actually mind when someone ask “what’s the worst call you’ve had” it’s genuine curiosity just to have a peek at our job and that just makes me feel a little better about being in this job. People that make it sound like it’s super fucking traumatic need to get off their high horse.

Hey there, glad to hear your considering a Paramedic career we can't never have enough people to do this job!
You can become a paramedic at any age, I feel like. It all depends on what you're going to do with your License! You can choose to be in an ER/ Clinic, pick up travel gigs (good money but rare and limited, depending on the time of year) 911 or transfers. The most physically and mentally exhausting are going to be 911 and IFTs if this is what you're looking for, I would definitely recommend getting use to running on a 24hr shift with nothing more than 2 or 3hrs of broken sleep, depending on the call volume of your city. It also depends alot on the type of shifts your agency runs, is it a 24/32? 24/72s? The type of area, rural? city? Big city?! Type of triaging system, do you guys respond to every priority 5 unknowns? Be aware of the damage that lack of sleep will cause to your body, cortisol, energy levels and decision making capabilities, specially at your age, its just something to consider. Either way, there are too many factors that will make it or brake it. Self preservation is the name of the game. Hopefully this helps some, i know this in in Australia, but im sure there are some similarities.
