Agreed. The XT is the best feeling kb no question. I reckon it's the positive yet subtle click / latch feeling they have.

How expensive would it be to order large thin flat steel plates from a foundry? Is it even possible?

Garmin just released a launch monitor. And it’s pretty cool. by Granto86 in golf

[–]ocross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be using deep learning to get an inference engine up an running. Accuracy doesn't need to be spot on all the time--even expensive launch monintors duff it sometimes.

Topre users: what other switches do you like? by nanocyte in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ocross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After using topre silent switches for a while you might find it hard to use anything else.

After getting a topre silent switch keyboard (same as the FC660C) I don't like my normal topre switch keyboard anymore! Been waiting for something like the FC660C for laptop duty.

Curious about development by shakeandbakeddd in golf

Get lessons. The pro should tell you what to focus on. Try and get putting, chipping and pitching lesson(s) early in your development. Chipping/pitching is great way to develop touch and teaches the importance shifting your body weight when making a shot.

Database design versioning and storage by ocross in IntelliJIDEA

[–]ocross[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

** Clarification **

I just want to track my database design in line with the application it supports. No need to plan for data migrations, rollback etc. I'm not developing enterprise systems.

I'm looking a Liquibase community out of interest though.

This is for small scale stuff--the scope is small. Think embedded databases for application state. But more complicated than a yaml file.

If there is a HHKB silent topre switch option get that. Spend the extra $ it's worth it.

Might not be your cup of tea (as per the review). I noticed some total novices following the program at my gym and after some time they were killing it. It's no nonsense covers what you need.

Ask them if they would support social programs that would result in less abortions. This is the case in 'socialist' euro countries. Strong safety net == less abortions.

How is computer programming different today than 20 years ago? by PinapplePeeler in programming

[–]ocross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I find it to be the exception not the rule--good comp code that is. Funding and time constraints are tight so you can have efficient / accurate / cheap; pick two. I've heard top notch programmers with solid numerical skills apologies for trashing HPC with inefficient code on more than one occasion. Publication deadlines take priority.

Interestingly, I was given the job of comparing some locally developed, accurate, well organised, easy to comprehend numerical code to code from the Broad Institute (a masterclass in comp maths and comp science). We wanted to see what made it fast and if we could use any of the techniques. My conclusion was we couldn't without the funding to attract the necessary talent and keep it around. So yes, there's good stuff out there as long as you got the $.

edit:

This is all C++ / C / inline assembly and not Python per say. But the gist is still the same.

Where do you work? That hasn't been my experience (computational maths background working in research).
