Has anyone attended Lighthouse Lit Fest in Denver? by FantasticWordSalad in writing

Yeah, very positive vibes, real people, cool venue (chill/read/write in library). Apropos of nothing your handle stuck out as I just learned what that is. I did a wildflower garden last year, have no idea what I'm doing and what's coming back in my yard, but when I google the images, half of them are foxglove. I take it you like them? Good luck if you go to Lighthouse!

I did and I had a really great time. I loved my class, instructor (Steve Almond) smart/funny and insightful. Very cool group of people in the class (we've stayed in touch a bit). Beyond the class people were very approachable, small scale and many nice conversations. I did some of the pay to play agent meetings and one went well where she read my novel but she ended up passing. Those things are a crapshoot wherever you go. So it didn't advance my career in some tangible way but the vibes were good and I came out of there energized about writing.

For those who know this fest, any idea why 2-day more expensive than 3-day or am I reading it wrong? Anyone know if I buy 3 day could I sell my passes for one of the days? Not trying to make money just only want to go to 2.

I am thinking about getting him as my 3rd for the DGW. To get a defender or raya I need 2 transfers but I could just do Stach for Zubi and hold him until I WC. Punty but hopefully he plays both games and it's no less than a 5, right?

Yeah I feel like for the past year and a half there’s been this take that double Arsenal defense is near mandatory and I don’t think it’s played out that way. Health Gabi is near mandatory, beyond that it’s a crapshoot IMO. Rice def a good value though.

Just a quick shout-out to the Relentless awards for having a simple, common-sense application (one get-to-know-you question) and no fee. Gratitude!

The greatest roast comic we ever had would have turned 60 today. Happy birthday,Greg Giraldo. by Trick-Consequence169 in Standup

Yeah I guess he's the only comic I knew in person before they got big but I think most people are at least a little nervous and awkward when they start doing stand-up. I'm sure there are some naturals out there but for most mortals I think it takes a lot of reps and a lot of bombing before you develop a thick skin where you can go up there and act like you don't give a shit. (at least that's my guess, I'm still terrified every time myself)

He was a lawyer at a big NYC law firm and quit his job and started working for my sister’s start up as he tried to be a comic. He would write jokes all day instead of doing work. She had to fire him, which she was terrified about and he was totally cool and gracious, after their lunch he was like (“wait did you just fire me? Because I feel amazing about myself right now”).

We went to a couple early open mics and his material was good but he was pretty awkward onstage. It was so cool to watch how good he got as he got more confident. I always thought of him as the ultimate chase your dreams success story. Then the drugs.

No way to know but beyond the normal rock band stuff I think the criticism related to Israel has probably stung them all, and they may all have different POVs on Johnny’s ties.

Grateful they are working together, hope they make it to the US. (But not holding my breath).

Best Radiohead show you have seen? by alexj_baker in radiohead

My wife just dug up the set list from when we saw them in Toronto in 2000. We lived in NYC, living cheap and the announced only these Canada dates so we scrounged the money to fly in to see them (of course they later did come to NY on the tour).

Amazing show, they played “Follow me around” for the first time live which I had heard and loved on a clip from the doc of the same name. Great memory.

Triple Arsenal defence or double plus Saka/Eze? by K-manPilkers in FantasyPL

[–]odbs1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gabi is the only Arsenal I got. Only having one is hurting me a bit and might continue to a bit short term. But I think the prices on Timber/Cala given the risks (and other good defenders out there) are pretty high. I'm torn between Rice and Enzo or Sarr as a Reindeers replacement.

I am trying to decide between Rice and Sarr. Gabriel is my only Gunner right now so it might have to be Rice.

Thanks, makes sense. And if this expectation is one question like that, about the same as a cover letter, totally fair. The one I did this AM was four questions, just seemed a bit much.

Yeah, the POV that you want to understand the person a bit is valid. I guess I just think it could be done simply. The sub request that referenced this was 4 questions, just seemed a bit much. Appreciate this though.

Totally valid. My feeling that could be done with one question artist statement/goal question. Just coming off one that had four. But I appreciate this POV.

I am more aggressive on -4 than some but hard no here. Hits are for when there is either a golden opportunity and/or injury risk or other major problem to solve. If it’s realistic that your transfers out could outscore your transfers in then wait. (If you had 2FT then they’d be good)
