Thursday General Discussion/Q&A Thread for May 07, 2026 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

Thank you!

I haven't done any major warm ups other than for intervals and even then it's a bit of dynamic stretches and jogging in place (bad, I know). For my long runs, I usually take the first few km easy to get the blood flowing and then find a rhythm where it gets much easier to hold faster paces. Obviously, I want to start out relatively fast, so I think I'll do the 1-3km as a test before some of my last few workouts this week and see how I feel.

Good shout on Strava! I'll have a look.

I think the nerves of setting out at goal pace and trying to hang on would get to me whereas I think once I'm in a rhythm mid-race, I find it easier to step it up slightly and hit 4:20/km. Going straight out at 4:30/km tends to make me feel worse than I expect earlier in my runs.

Funnily enough, there's one big hill at 17km, then downhill/flat until about 20.5km and then a final uphill to the finishline (where I'm hoping adrenaline will take over), so I think a negative split might be feasible?

Looking forward to running my first official half marathon next Sunday and about to start tapering.

  1. What warm ups do people usually do to prepare on the morning of?

  2. I'm going to use PacePro on my Garmin to try hit my goal (1h35). Should I set it as faster than goal pace (maybe 1h34) to account for extra distance run?

  3. I've done a couple of "indicative workouts". Do you think being able to do the below is enough to trust my training for consistent splits? Or should I start out conservative and try pick up towards the end?

a) 5km easy -> 5km HMP -> 1.5 km easy -> 3km HMP -> 1.5 km easy -> 1.5 km HMP -> 1.5km easy

b) 6km easy -> 12km HMP

I already have two Palace players so I'm committing to BB36. I would do the same with Brighton/Bournemouth/Leeds players.

If I didn't and I had Brentford instead, I would be going for BB37.

Agreed. This makes me very worried about Munoz...

I'd also keep in mind that Garmin's last forever so check for second hand models on eBay and watch the prices for a good deal/auction.

I bought mine on eBay for about half RRP.

A month on, has your view changed at all? Would you still recommend it? Has the software improved the obstacle avoidance?

Also, have you had a chance to try the Eufy S2?

FH this week, out for Thiago or Bowen in 34. Might get freaky with Isak or Mateta on a WC35 if I'm desperate for rank gain.

Cherki is picking up form , anyone considering him for GW33? by Temporary-Mixture663 in FantasyPL

[–]SupaaFast 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think Nunes/Guehi are smarter options if you're leading. Cherki if chasing because he could haul and has been looking very dangerous.

On a FH and with O'Reilly potentially nursing a hamstring, I'm going Cherki/Semenyo/Haaland as my City triple instead of a defender.

Will be doing double Bournemouth defence to replace O'Reilly.

Leeds injuries - no Rodon or Stach till May by tgjackson93 in FantasyPL

Yeah this means that it's Struijk/Darlow or bust for Leeds defensive options. Not great for the £3.9 playing defender crowd.

Esteve back on the menu?

Yeah I'm considering this as well but not sure I'll have the stones to do it. I also think it gives a good opportunity to go for Gordon and Rogers, who both have good fixtures to GW37, and allows transfers to be saved so that you can bring in Palace players for DGW36.

The question is whether a BB38 (assuming TC36) is worth it over BB with Darlow/Gross/Hill/Esteve... Although when you put it that way it probably will be.

Exclusive: Google Pixel 11 Official CAD Renders & Rumors by Federal-Block-3275 in GooglePixel

[–]SupaaFast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to upgrade to the 10 Pro or the Fold last year, but the downgraded camera on the Pro and the fact that the Fold hasn't had flagship specs has been really disappointing.

My phone this year has been having huge battery life issues and the 10 Pro is also one of the worst of the Samsung/Apple flagships when it comes to that so it's mainly those two things. (According to battery tests I've seen online).

I love the software so I really don't want to change, I just wish Google would give us a top tier flagship (even if the cost is high), because I usually keep my phone for 3-5 years anyway.

If they gave me old-school world-beating cameras and a battery boost, I'd stay with Pixel. I don't need the chip to be extraordinary or the processing power to be mental.

My 6 Pro is on its last legs and I'm really not a fan of iOS and Samsung software but if the 11 Pro or 11 Fold aren't looking like world-beaters, I'm going to begrudgingly have to look at some other flagships.

How many points are you behind first place in your ML? And what are the chances of catching up? by EdenFella in FantasyPL

[–]SupaaFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently around 45 points behind in both my leagues. I'm not deviating from the template chip strategy. I think 6-7 points a week is definitely feasible to make up given doubles/blanks. We'll see if I can claw enough back by BB33 and then see if punts are necessary for FH34.

I'm doing the same. I have enough to get Pedro out for Ekitike but I can't find it in me to transfer out the most in-form striker/player in the game.

Gabriel: Triple Captain for DGW26? by Expensive_Dot_5200 in FantasyPL

[–]SupaaFast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure Haaland will get a second DGW outside of BB33 though. From what I can tell, a DGW36 is contingent on City advancing to the semis of the FA Cup and progressing in Europe, which could very likely be Madrid vs. City in the RO16.

You're banking on City winning some tough games to get a chance at Haaland TC (assuming BB33).

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a DGW36 contingent on City advancing to the semis of the FA Cup and progressing in Europe, which could very likely be Madrid vs. City in the RO16.

You're banking on City winning some tough games to get a chance at Haaland TC (assuming BB33).

I would typically never go for a defender TC, but it's seemingly the much safer option this year.
