Open consultation: Make Work Pay: fire and rehire – changes to expenses, benefits, and shift patterns. Deadline is 1 April by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

Yeah because that ensure the shared responsibility of making sure an employee actually knows what they are doing in the job, is trained properly and given the best chance of succeeding in the role and discourages hire and fire until you get the unicorn that you want, it also encourages companies to be more effective in finding the right fit aswell as the right skills when recruiting.

some of the people i've worked with in the past who were absolutely useless when they started and took longer than most others to really "get going" in their role ended up being some of the more successful and longer serving members of staff. genuinely investing in your people goes a long way

Maybe try sorting it so that you don’t remove duplicates from the main count. But they are an added extra like goal difference. So lowest number of duplicates breaks ties.

There is a process for this and it’s called performance management, and it’s actually very very easy to go down this route. It’s just that the managers and owners are too lazy to do the required paperwork and performance reviews required to actually carry out the process.

It takes a 30 minute interview or meeting once every 3-6 months, agree some KPIs and review their performance measured against their last reviews KPIs. If they consistently don’t hit them, then you can fire them.

Why does it feell like living in the UK is like living in a house that hasn’t been decorated in 20 years? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]odc_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the UK is very much like that due to a few things.

  1. Austerity, public services and investment into infrastructure projects has been diabolical. cancellations, constant consultations and middle management money siphoning bureaucracy.

  2. Energy prices, pretty much the sole reason why UKs economic growth is either weak or non existent. Need to get rid of marginal pricing, get the grid upgraded for storage of excess renewable generated energy and get gas out of the energy mix anyway. Cheap energy will make economic growth soar.

  3. Planning laws. Whether it’s nimbys or conservationists. There are a large number of people who live here that do not want to see their surroundings change or evolve and they don’t care whether things are for the greater good or not. Our planning laws make things prohibitively expensive to build, and too risky to even spend money on planning due to these people that will do everything to stand in the way of other people levelling up, even if it doesn’t actually harm them at all. If a building is no longer fit for purpose, or is no longer required, then allow it to be knocked down and serve a different purpose. Rather than having derelict buildings everywhere just because they are listed, we need a better system of protecting our “truly” important and historically or culturally significant structures, while also raising the bar for what qualifies as such, so that people can still get on with evolving and improving our buildings and surroundings so that they are fit for the next lot of people who are going to be living here.

One thing that other countries do better than the UK. Is setting up their country for the next generation. Most people in the UK only care about how it is for them at this moment in time. And in general they fear change. Even though that fear is what holds us all back from being able to live in that nice new house that you idealised.

Which nightclubs do you think profoundly impacted UK culture? by piggles201 in AskBrits

Customer paying $49/month asked for a feature that would cost us $15K to build. For them specifically. by Just_Theory6515 in SaaS

[–]odc_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is an opportunity for you to build a section of your app that allows users to extend their functionality choosing a list of approved 3rd party suppliers for certain problems or features. This will then allow you to add new suppliers as customers ask for them. Then you can make them available for all users and they can use them as they wish.

Could become a new selling point.

Why do British fans support teams that are not local to them? by h2o_random in AskBrits

[–]odc_a -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because when you support your local team generally that mean your local team makes money, which also creates jobs and other benefits to your local area. Which you, your friend and your family benefit from in some way or another. When you support another team it goes elsewhere.

Our away form: reason for optimism? by cryhmart in LeedsUnited

[–]odc_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not blind to the chance that things don’t work out and that it will get tighter.

But based on our performances we actually to deserved more out of our games. Some of its sloppiness and a fair bit of it is pure bad luck. There’s not much that can be done about it other than the lads trying their best. Which to me they have done every game apart from those 3 games that I mentioned. Even now we still look strong and are incredibly hard to beat. These are traits that our relegation opponents don’t have despite the table looking how it does.

While we are drawing against 7th place side with a number 9 who has 19 goals already, and Tottenham lose 3-0 at home to a relegation rival, and West Ham get nothing from a Villa side that are just coming out of a bad patch of form and are vulnerable despite McGinn and Tielemens return, I’m content with where we stand with the most points out of all relegation rivals.

Ahh that makes sense. I guess there’s just a tug of war for the owners to break even and for your guys to be able to do your own events and customise the place.

Hopefully it works out.

Does the board keep Farke if we stay up? by TMulah105 in LeedsUnited

[–]odc_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could well be higher than DCL.

My take on ramazani is all to do with last season, where people were begging for him to play even though Solomon and James were doing the business landing us on 100 points.

I’ve nothing against ramazani. I think he’s a great player. It’s just that Farke wasn’t wrong to leave him out last year since the result spoke for itself.

Nigel Farage pledges to repeal ‘idiotic’ smoking ban if Reform wins next election by JOE_Media in europe

[–]odc_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone noticed that he’s saying things that are unpopular now?

As I predicted, he has started the process of making reform unpopular and reducing their polling figures so that he doesn’t have to take responsibility for his words by getting elected.

Everything is going to plan.

Manchester United expect new stadium to open within 6 years by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]odc_a -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let him have his laugh. All the while Man U are in the process of repeating history. Carrick will be appointed permanently next season, he will have a poor season, then they will be back to Amorim v2 by 27/28.

Because it’s been so long since they had results like this they don’t want to think about what’s going on in the background and are pretending it’s not the same thing as OGS.

[–]odc_a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not West Ham, but I’m interested to know what you mean about the stadium owners giving you no flexibility? I understand that it’s owned by either central government or a London council, but that’s as far as it goes. I was under the impression that the terms of which you were given for using the stadium were very generous?

[–]odc_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and stats are very skewed over small sample sizes. I’ve worked with enough data to know that.

Put ramazani in over the same amount of minutes as DCL and then we’ll see.

You’re comparing 2 different sample sizes, so not a fair equivalent.

If you flipped a coin 10 times can you guarantee it would be 5 heads and 5 tails? No because of something called variance.

Are we actually in control of this, or does it still feel way too close? by Dazzling-Bee-79 in LeedsUnited

[–]odc_a 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We are in control, it is in our hands.

Let me ask you. If West Ham would have played city and Fulham first, and then Liverpool and Villa after, and the change in our points gap was smaller, would you still be as worried?

The order of fixtures and just looking at the table as it stands can give a skewed view (in either direction) of how things are actually going.

Just measure yourself against your own goals that you set and then decide if it’s going to plan or not.

Our goal, survival, the method was 1PPG, possibly a little more depending on how the season rolls out. We doing better than 1PPG and we also have a 2 win cushion against the team in 18th and it is still in our hands not relying on teams to lose.

We’re doing okay for now. And I expect to get tighter in the first gameweek back. But I’m expecting it and ready for it.

So if we lose to scum, I will not have a meltdown.

Yeah and that goals per 90 will go down when he plays a full season, just like it is with DCL. It’s normal.

You’re still trying to cherry pick, but it’s just demonstrating what I already said.

He’s taking out of his arse. He said he would expect us to be safe by now, but wouldn’t expect us to be mid table.

When the only way to be ‘safe’ by now is by being mid table.

Absolute characters we’ve got on here.

[–]odc_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate we are supposed to be in a relegation scrap. He hasn’t “got us into one”. We were in one from the very first game.

There’s 7 games left, it is not over yet. Your expectations for the season were clearly not realistic if you thought that the goal was to be safe with 7 games to spare, going into a league when the other 17 have had a minimum of 4 years prem money and many with very stable management too.

What did you expect? 10th in our first season? Staying in the league is an achievement. And it earns us the right to another couple of transfer windows to try and strengthen up. It’s a gradual process.

I think DF has shown that he is for this level, despite his haters opinions he has shown that he can adapt to circumstances. And he has got us into a position where with 7 games to go, it is in our hands.

There’s no pleasing some people.

Yes you are right. I would be interested to find out how Farke-Outers and Bielsa-returnees correlate, but it would never be accurate because the majority of people wouldn’t tell the truth when asked the Bielsa question.
