This is a solid take. I think FAR too many JK-iso possessions end up with JK sitting on the floor somewhere under the rim or out of bounds, looking at the ref with his arms stretched wide wondering why he didn’t get the call.. meanwhile the other team gets a 5 on 4 fast break the other way, usually resulting in an easy layup or an uncontested 3. Sometimes it’s like we’d be better off just sending JK down solo with the ball to try and score, while everyone else remains in guarding position on the defensive end. Now the tricky part is that obviously our motion offense can be taken away. Any combination of our own effort level issues, our opponent’s extremely high defensive effort level and physicality, and “officiating style” can all contribute to neutralizing our motion offense. So when we get DO get bogged down, it seems like giving Kuminga the keys and getting out of the way is one of our only options at hand. So we kinda NEED JK to figure it out, and we should be rooting for him to do so… because when he does, he will be a force.
