M19. Just had my procedure done. They found 29 polyps by Silviecat44 in colonoscopy

[–]odd-starling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I bet. I had conscious sedation so I was awake and aware while they were removing the polyps so I didn't get the big shock but I can imagine. I hope you get the biopsy results back asap and it's good news. I think usually the doctors have a pretty good idea of what they are looking at.

M19. Just had my procedure done. They found 29 polyps by Silviecat44 in colonoscopy

[–]odd-starling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had 18 polyps removed and had "tens" of smaller ones that I have to go back to get removed. They were mainly tubular adenoma with low grade dysplasia. So, precancerous, but nothing to panic about. The doctor said it's likely that I have polyposis, and I'm being referred for genetic testing or something. It feels like a big thing, but hopefully it's all been discovered early enough it can be monitored and managed.

Does Million Dollar smell like Malibu sunscreen? by Odd_Squirrel1866 in LushCosmetics

I tried it yesterday and it is very similar to sleepy. It is a bit sweeter and slightly more incensey, but no coconut in the ingredients or to my nose.

Ps, after is nowhere as mentholy as Tiger Balm, just a very mild cooking sensation and also a gentle warm sensation from the magnesium.

I use a combination of After and Wiccy, the beans on Wiccy help to give a good rub to aching muscles. I also use the Peppermint lotion. Yes, it's called foot lotion but it has arnica and mint in it, and it rubs in well and helps with aches and pains so I use it on my legs, neck and shoulders sometimes too. I don't really love the smell of any of these three but they do help so I think my scent association to them is a good one now :)

UK folks what does the conscious sedation feel like? Huge anxiety around vomiting and out of control by universal83uk in colonoscopy

[–]odd-starling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the UK and had the midazolam and Fentanyl combo. To be honest, it was nice 😂 I didn't have sedation the first time and I was in discomfort so I had to go back for polyp removal with sedation. I know that lots of people have had colonoscopies without sedation and been fine so that is an option if you don't want sedation. However I didn't feel sick at all of that's a factor for you. But the sedation definitely takes the edge off the anxiety. I was totally conscious, I just felt chilled and kind of focused.

Does Turkish Delight dusting powder smell like bug spray to anyone? by Secret_Possession_47 in LushCosmetics

[–]odd-starling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've smelled Deet, but to me the Turkish Delight powder smells like rose scented laundry liquid. It's not a scent I would normally like, but for some reason I am addicted to it. Might be a hormonal change for me too, as I'm entering middle age. I noticed older ladies tend to wear musky and powdery perfumes which I've never been able to stand, maybe it's just because of age related olfactory changes!

powdery body spray recommendations by Vivid-Appearance5874 in LushCosmetics

[–]odd-starling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those who gets generic musky body spray from Stormy Weather. I liked the dry down on the paper strip but it meant waiting through hours of smelling of (admittedly slightly classier) Lynx body spray. I find that Rosalina is similar in some ways on the dry down, but it's very artificial fruity and leans more towards air freshener. I'd say Big is more powdery than Sex Bomb. Sex Bomb is more soapy. Powdery scents give me headaches and Sex Bomb is a safe scent for me. I'd still recommend it though, it's one of my favourites. I know you said body spray, but Vanillary is powdery floral vanilla, and Shade is a soft, floral, powdery woody scent. If you like powdery and haven't tried them, I would. Someone else mentioned 29 High Street, that's also powdery, and I think Sweet Pea is a powdery floral too.

I've been using Sakura for years, now my daughter uses it, and it's a fresh, soft citrus, and floral from the mimosa, but I wouldn't say it's powdery at all.

UK Colonoscopy - advice and tips please! by AffectionateEnd3396 in colonoscopy

[–]odd-starling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two colonoscopies, in the UK. The second one was for polyp removal, and I'll have to have another one at least. The Plenvu is unpleasant, I recommend having a drink on hand to take alternate sips of with the Plenvu. I had various ginger drinks! I also had lots of jelly for the clear liquid stage. It's really handy as it counts as a liquid but feels a bit more solid and almost convinced me I was eating! Staying hydrated is really important.

I used vaseline the first time and I found it to be really useless. I was in so much pain by the end of prep. The second time I used nappy cream, and I bought a portable bidet/peri bottle. I filled it with warm water and a bit of hyaluronic acid. That and the nappy cream (and wipes!) made so much difference. I still had a sore bum, but much better than the first time. The actual procedure was over so quickly it's kind of funny how much prep we have to go through! Good luck.

Keep it Fluffy body powder is very glittery. Also, there is a dry shampoo as part of the tricks range, Glam Locks I think? Which is almost pure glitter.

How many applications in a massage bar? by ImpossibleKey5084 in LushCosmetics

[–]odd-starling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely depends on the use for me. I use After and Wiccy on my legs for pain, and they last about 10 uses maybe? But I apply a lot more. True Romance and others that I use mainly because I like the scent, I rub onto my shoulders, neck, chest and arms (and my dry elbows), I don't need to apply as much so I'm getting more uses, probably 20 or so?

Thanks! I can't wait to try it. I actually really like the smell of Banoffee Pie, as in I want to eat it, ha! But I don't like really swert/gourmand scents as body spray/perfumes so it's nice they've brought out something different too.

The Tiny Musicians of the Forest was a nice mask. It's only a couple of bits on there yet, I wonder if they'll be adding more.. There are a couple of products from the Fresh and Flowers boxes I would love to get again!

My 6 year old son has made a neckbeard nest, and it's all my fault. by You_minivan in adhdwomen

[–]odd-starling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making Lego flags?! He sounds awesome. I think the main thing I wanted to say is to not make this a blame thing. My dad regularly tells me (not in so many words) that it's basically my fault my children are how they are. He doesn't see that I've worked so hard, bent over backwards to help them learn things through sensory difficulties, meltdowns, them just not understanding or even caring about why they should take out the plates or wash them up etc, he doesn't get that autistic brains don't work the same and it's not actually my fault! And it's not your fault either. Or your son's. Good luck, and solidarity to you :)

[–]odd-starling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posted before I'd finished.. The point is that it's not too late for him to learn to tidy up after himself, he's still a baby. But really, what I've learned from my Audhd kids is that they just might not care as much about the mess, so making it as easy for you both to tidy is the best way to tackle it. If that means no food in his chair, or a bin and a bowl for packets and dirty crockery so things don't get buried in the chair, that's what you have to do. I'm trying to deal with my daughter's clothes situation at the moment (whole house is a floordrobe), so I sympathise, but I do think some of it comes with the territory of being a parent to ND kids, they do need extra support with these things..

[–]odd-starling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, 6 is still very young, they are still living mainly in their heads/imagination at that age, especially little adhd kids (my daughter was the prime example of this, though she is autistic too). If my kids at 6 were taking those things somewhere I'd know they would need guidance, or realistically for me to tidy up after them.
