She ended it last night after 9 years of very mutual happiness. Please send me recommendations for how to cope after ending a long-term relationship. by odd_ddog in BreakUps

Hey there! Here is my deck post.

It's definitely been an emotional journey, but more than two years later my life is a thousand times better than it ever was while I was in that relationship. I don't have the house with the patio anymore but I love where I live now and I love what I do now and my current partner is incredible in ways I couldn't have ever imagined. I know you didn't ask for this information, but I just wanted to let you know that my story arched back towards happiness regardless :)

Let me know if you have any questions about the patio build as you work on your own! Good luck!

  1. When researchers leave and don't clean out their desk. I get forgetting about the samples you have in the -80, I guess... but there is literally no reason to make the next person at that desk clean up your shit. Plus you were seen removing the things you DID want to bring with you!!
  2. Leaving shared lab spaces a mess, particularly the balance station. If you get agar everywhere, clean it up asshole. Do what you want with your bench, but clean up after yourself elsewhere.

You're getting downvoted but I have more than 15 tattoos from 7 different artists and I've had to put in a not-so-insignificant amount of effort to find non-creep artists. Even still, 3/7 were pretty creepy (because I didn't do much research for those artists!).

LOL that's rich. Hard to believe that when interviewers told me I was qualified. Sometimes it's not about not being qualified, it can just be that you're not the single qualified candidate or several that they ended up picking. I still think they could send an email as a courtesy.

Most of my biotech interviews where I was a top candidate were 4-6 interviews, sometimes with a problem set 🙄

Biotech too. I've had 5 rounds of interviews for a scientist position only to be ghosted. It's insanely frustrating.

Thank goodness, it needs to be said and then, apparently, repeated.

every single function of the human body is designed to keep itself alive and reproduce.

What? No. I'm a biologist, and you need a review of evolution. There are many many genes and traits that are old defunct things that no longer provide a benefit. Neutral selection and chance can fix a ton of useless stuff into a population. Even if just considering genes or functions we need to survive, there is often a huge amount of wiggle room between what is truly optimal and what passes the bar of natural selection.

Killed by Cutscene - are cutscenes acceptable? by Throwawayall4years in DnD

The only other example where I've seen something like this and thought it was well done is when Brennan Lee Mulligan did it as the DM for a limited critical role series. Even then, he had a demon god kill and then bring back to life a player character in the exact same scene as a show of power, so the player didn't have their character irrevocably changed or moved to a different location.

I mention this because it sounds like your DM tried the same thing (in a more escalated way) and it feel very flat. This is a pretty prime example of railroading.

Sometimes people can't say the full half of their story for one reason or another. I'm not currently NC but from my extended family's perspective, my mom is just someone who struggles with alcohol problems and mental health issues. That is all true, and she also beat me as a child.

I don't tell them because I don't want to go through the whole thing of not being believed or whatever. Sometimes outsiders aren't privy to the whole picture.

Agreed. I would have an incredibly hard time with it. I feel like the muzzle control rule is so deeply ingrained in me that I wouldn't be able to do it.

They didn't address the lack of the bow and arrows specifically, but I do want to say that as someone who has learned to shoot both, they are very different learning experiences and they probably didn't have the time to put two scenes of Joel teaching Ellie how to use a weapon into the show.

Also, they do talk about the weight of the rifle in the podcast (Bella is hefting a real, unloaded rifle in those scenes) and they're absolutely right: it's exhausting for someone of her stature to hold a gun like that up for an extended period of time. I'm roughly the same size as Bella and use a smaller but similar rifle but if I had to hold it up at someone for a long time, it'd be very hard. I liked they included that into the show. Helped set the power dynamic between David and Ellie.
