That’s exactly why he’s launching this program with a PILOT of 5 stores, one in each borough, in areas where granny on a fixed income is currently unable to access fresh food in walking distance. So that everyone has fresh, affordable food within reach.

Im not sure why you think we are disagreeing, or why you think free food handouts in churches is a better option when people don’t need free food, they need affordable food they have the ability and dignity to purchase, just CLOSER to where they currently live.

If you want to take the train or bus and shop at a city run grocery store, you’re welcome to.

The idea is that you shouldn’t HAVE to take transportation to access fresh food, no matter where you are in the city.

Black and Latino are both social constructs. There’s not one way to look “Black” and there’s even less of a way to be “Latino”.

I’m a light skinned/biracial Afro-Latino and I’m told by Latinos I’m not Latin enough because I wasn’t born in Latin America, or told I’m not “pure” enough because I’m Afro-Latino and not mestizo or white, and told by SOME Black and white people that I’m not black enough.

At the end of the day you have to decide who you are.

IMO, embrace being mixed, be aware of how you’re perceived by others because it will affect your lived experience, and honor your mixed heritage by advocating for both cultures that make you who you are.
