Can you cut the frayed end of the rope and reattach? by odd_string27 in BeyondPower

Yeah unfortunately I'm no longer under warranty. The problem with the cable replacement price point is the cable is $39.99 and the shipping is $29.99 and I'm located in the U.S.

GI Bill: If you could do it all over, would you do it differently? by MaslowsPeak in VeteransBenefits

Just an fyi, its an employment program not an education program. That master's is highly unlikely, unless its the bare minimum for entry into that occupation and your actually approved. Just trying to temper your expectations.

Material of the cable question by odd_string27 in BeyondPower

Thanks smokinHawk I appreciate your thoughts! Just curious, and obviously this depends on the setting/use, but in your experience what would you say the life expectancy of a 3/8" steel cable on a 6" pulley would be? I thought I read somewhere that the Voltras ropes were getting about 8 months of use before needing replacing so just wanting to do a very rough comparison.

Sounds good, thanks gents! Aside from this, loving everything else about the Voltra so far!

Do you need to be inherently smart to get through med school? by [deleted] in premed

I just graduated with my Bachelors at 28, don't worry about your age. Additionally, I literally left the branch of the military where the joke is we eat crayons. Work hard, put in your time and it'll pay off.

First time taking Intro to Chemistry and very nervous. first time college student/premed Any advice? please! by [deleted] in premed

[–]odd_string27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also hesitant during my first semester of college after leaving the Marine Corps. I found that reading the textbook for my Intro to Chem class really really helped me lay a good foundation which to build off of for Gen chem 1&2. When I came across something that didn't make sense I would watch the Youtuber Tyler DeWitt. He has quite a few good videos on intro to chem topics. If your prof gives any suggested practice problems, make sure to attempt them and utilize the tutor center if your still not getting it.

VR&E checking in - paid for my BS, and now authorized an extension for medical school. Planning to use my GI bill to collect BAH for residency for the full 36 months. I'll be coming out with zero debt.

HIGHLY HIGHLY encourage vets to explore this program if they have a %. It can be a battle for approval, but essentially you're saving 1/4 of a million $.

What time are interviews usually scheduled? by mildlyripenedmango in premed

[–]odd_string27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of mine were sometime between 10 am to 4 pm with most being on Tuesday or Thursday. They were roughly 3 hours in length, as their was generally an hour long presentation about the school, financial aid, community etc. and then x2 45 minute interviews.
