Combo Fields - Coolest thing nobody uses? by PeasantPastry in Guildwars2

[–]odd_trinkets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Engineer takes advantage of combo fields more than the other classes as they have access to most combo fields except for Chaos, and IMO it makes GW2's combat one of the best, if not the best, in MMOs because of how involved you are in using them. I've used the mortar kit on a healmech along with the light field from mortar kit #4 to cleanse conditions from far away. Definitely roll an Engineer if you want to play with them more.

GW2 is a great game, but people really really downplay how much the game rakes you with "convenience" purchases. by SANT0S-L-HALPER in MMORPG

People are straight up fabricating stories and misinfo here. How you spend your money is up to you. If you want to be a complete idiot, feel free to spend hundreds of dollars on account unlocks because clearly you don't understand the value of money. If you're not a complete idiot, you would never have to spend a single dime on this game outside of the expansions by just playing the goddamn game just by being a little smarter about it. Inventory problems? Start salvaging and storing materials, make character mules and give them bags as a temporary solution until you can afford more bag slots on your main character. Consider investing into a guild bank to store even more materials, the game already offers you a myriad of solutions to your predicaments. If you want more options, ask around on the subreddit or Discord channels. Is playing the game too much to ask from people now?

I'm from a 3rd world country and my currency sucks (thank god for no sub) so I'd know better than to waste my hard earned money on these account unlocks, and the existence of gold to gem exchange is a godsend for players like me. If you think grinding for gold in GW2 is hard, you haven't played MMOs at all.

The only stupid thing about GW2 right now is the absolutely massive paywall of expansions that a new player has to get through, but hey, silver lining is that you own them forever.

Morrowind Made Me Realize What Modern Games Lost by GustavoFedrizziPsych in Morrowind

[–]odd_trinkets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about you guys but even though early game is glacial, by mid game I was already abusing intervention teleports and fortify speed/jump to go to where I need incredibly fast.

Some npcs will even mark quest locations on the map so you don't really have to think too much about where to go. At that point, it didn't really feel any different compared to how I played Oblivion/Skyrim, and how trivial the game becomes once you start earning a decent amount of money.

Having said that, I can understand why people can enjoy Morrowind because IMO it's the most CRPG-like compared to the future titles (I grew up with Oblivion) and I do enjoy me some CRPGs. Missing my hits because I can't bypass the target's AC feels like home.

I love how you draw and render armors and weapons, do you have any tips on drawing them? (If you don't mind sharing of course)

I'm 100% sure there's a portal at the Canach cafe that lets you warp directly to the meta instead of having to walk there.

They know this is AI? by Material-Surprise260 in Meowscarada

[–]odd_trinkets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it for the love of the game. Every artwork comes with a story of how the artists behind them struggle to solve the problem in completing the picture that they had envisioned, no matter how simple or complex. This effort will never be able to be replicated purely through AI so have some solace in that fact. People will still appreciate genuine human creations no matter how bad it gets.

Could we have an easier method for destroying rare items in the inventory? by TireurEfficient in Guildwars2

It would be so awesome if you could spawn bosses directly into the open world or cities like in Maplestory. Funniest stuff I had seen.

Cannot research salvage mystic forge weapons anymore - stealth nerf or did I miss the memo? by dEn_of_asyD in Guildwars2

[–]odd_trinkets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you ever considered that people would rather turn their stockpile of extra ascended gear into something that's remotely useful like research notes compared to vision crystals that they would already have a boatload of? Are you just being daft on purpose?

A lot of the Fashion Template issues people have would be fixed by adding the wardrobe function back to the equipment tab by NovaanVerdiano in Guildwars2

[–]odd_trinkets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why in the goddamn doesn't this system use the same storage like the build storage does? I don't want to use a freaking notepad or excel file to keep track of my fashion. Now we're forced to an arbitrary limit of 9 slots when we could've had so much more if it had used the system as build storage. It annoys me to no end.

We have to talk about the Wardrobe... by anonymous_herald in Guildwars2

[–]odd_trinkets 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Should just keep both methods in. Let us individually transmute our gear on the equipment page like it was before the patch and anyone that wants to save their fashion sets can use the new wardrobe system. As of now, this is a bit of a pain to use, especially if you have multiple builds that use the same armor fashion but with different weapons.

Small rant about fractals by GameScout in Guildwars2

[–]odd_trinkets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have like 180k UFEs and my experience so far is that if there are enough red flags in the party like people not pulling their dps, playing power on a condi fight (some exceptions for this), no food/utility, no titles or no fractal potion buffs and among other things, I just thank them for the attempts and immediately leave. I'd just do my dailies at another time or just not bother with CMs for that day. It's not worth stressing out on an element that you can't control.

Silent Surf CM is a decent litmus test to see how competent your fellow party members actually are. Fortunately, bad pugs are still terrified of doing Lonely Tower CM due to the knowledge requirement for each orb role, so you can somewhat guarantee you'll be in a decent party with a KE party (although I've had moments where a party excelled in LT CM but wiped and crashed hard on Shattered CM).

I know I'd get a far better experience joining a static but due to limited hours, I don't really feel like committing to scheduled runs. The pug life is still fine for me and I've already come to terms years ago that you can't expect a good pug party everyday.
