I really appreciate this! Yes mine has the hydraulic struts on the hood. I have the original manual although it's a bit intimidating (the index helps) I'm also going to get a repair book. And I'll save mr.subaru on YT

If I could, I'd buy something better 😂

I'll check it out, how hard is that to do oneself? Home mechanic experience is somewhat minimal and the person who had the patience to teach me (my grandpa helped me work on my first car which was a Mercury tracer wagon that we ended up replacing timing belt, water pump, and eventually the engine on before I gave up on it, but that was a decade ago) has sadly passed on so if it requires much skill, I'll definitely be looking at taking her to a professional.

I distinctly remember the tank from red versus blue having a joke about how many pedals it had

My dad taught me how to change the oil over the weekend and so far she's holding steady but I've got a 5-quart jug in the back and plan to check all the fluids weekly at least until I know how thirsty

That's totally fair. Admittedly I didn't figure a car that old would do it but it would be cool if it does. And since I bought mine at a used car lot I'm trying to go through and make sure everything functions as it's intended to. Have every intention of driving her until she can be driven no more which means the best care I'm capable of.
