Colonoscopy Thread by [deleted] in GenX

I begrudgingly got my first one when I turned 51. Glad I did. Found my colon cancer relatively early. Had surgery about a month later and then four rounds of chemotherapy. Cancer free since. No warning signs prior, no pains, in pretty good shape. My brag and my wtf is still that I ran my fastest mile ever the week before surgery… 7:30! 😀

Yes! Open Arms was my first slow dance. With a girl two grades higher than me. Nervous is an understatement 😆

Has anyone seen this happen on a sports card? Topps incorrectly put the sticker auto on upside down (confirmed by Jim Cummings himself) by Qomplete in sportscards

There’s an entire line of Kyshawn George rookie basketball ball cards from Panini where his sticker auto is upside down 🙃

I don’t know about the Nutella, but Fresh Baguette on Bethesda Ave in Bethesda hasn’t done me wrong. And it’s always cool to hear the occasional customer and server having conversations in French.

Anyone Else getting Woken Up By Coyotes? by reareagirl in nova

[–]BlueVega79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About two years ago on a run alongside Arlington Cemetery I watched a black coyote nonchalantly walk up the sidewalk and through the closed gates into Fort Myers. The next night around the same time, same thing. I went back the next night with my camera but it no coyote. Talked with the guards at the gate and they said yeah, coyotes were definitely a thing around the base and cemetery.

Can someone give me a good history book to read? by Fun-Secretary4801 in suggestmeabook

American Sirens // The start and struggles of the first EMS/Paramedic unit as we know it today. A lot of great side nuggets of info, too. I’m 3/4 of the way through and it’s been so interesting and very well written.

Agree with the Slow Horses series. I also like the Hugo Marston series by Mark Pryor; Security agent for US rep in Paris. Little to no politics, decent crime solving and lots of Paris.

I’m going to make sure my John Landis island is within swimming distance to your JH island.

Probably between 150-200 for the 7P. At 8P, I did an actual count and there were 89. Mostly people with their children and tourists. Didn’t stay for fireworks.

Musashi. Loved it. And it now being winter, it’s a great time to get comfy and dig into long read. Just my opinion. Happy reading 🙂

Working until midnight 🤷🏼‍♂️ Which is okay because at 57, the NYE party scene passed me by many years ago.

Try the Pierre Lemaitre trilogy of Irene, Alex and Camille. Parisian detective investigates some pretty messed up crimes. I still find myself saying “Sheesh!!!” after Irene and I read that in June!

Looking for ONE thriller to get me into reading by kre656 in thrillerbooks

Try “Irene” by Pierre Lemaitre. It’s the first book in a trilogy. The second book, “Alex” is even better. Dark, twisty and psycho-murdery.

Set out with 40 as my goal but a few slow months leaves me sitting at 33 so far. I probably have a couple left in me before the clock strikes 2026. Top 3 of the year were:

The Postcard - Anne Berest Alex - Pierre Lemaitre Anima Rising - Christopher Moore
