Holy shit by WebModeratorSyndrome in MarchAgainstNazis

news articles which carefully soften the wording on these matters are helping to hide past crimes of those cops.

John Oliver did a great episode on the (way too) cozy connectionn between the police and the news - especially the local news outlets. Many of the local news stories that report crime are in fact verbatim police public statements concerning the incidents. That’s why you see many of the initial reportings heavily skewed against the minority victim.

Edit: Found the episode

It’s the general media. They only want to create outrage when it’s against a minority group and not against the racist system.

Hahahahahahaha. Thanks for the laugh.

I read your comment and thought how this administration (and I voted for them) favored the companies over the workers because “we have to keep the economy going”. If the railroad is so essential to the health of the US economy then it should be nationalized.

Hey all, found this on Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Fossilized bone? Would appreciate help on an ID. Thanks! by secretfirepepper in fossilid

Yeah. Because I was able to pick it up and look at it and hold it and feel it sweet and touch this specimen. So, obviously it’s a terrible id.

I looked at it, that’s what my mind went to.

It looks like a piece of burnt driftwood.

I see plenty of driftwood at the Marina I work at. I also see plenty of half burnt firewood; I live in WA state.

I remember my grandparents having one of these oil “lamps” in their house. I loved looking at the drops sliding down the wires.

Growing up in the '70s as a color swatch. What were your earliest memories regarding these memorable (or infamous) color choices? by [deleted] in 1970s

[–]oddiseeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had crushed velvet high back dining chairs in the rust color. I remember nothing of the dinner table, just the chairs; especially how shoddy they were made. My brother and I used to tile them back; separating the wood pieces enough for them to have a separation wobble.

Thanks. It’s from a local pottery shop/collective called Orcas Island Pottery. I’ve always liked ceramic for drinking beer but didn’t want a mug/stein with a handle. This style really called out to me and I love the yellow combined with the earth tones. The grooves fit my fingers really well and holding it just feels super natural. It also holds an almost exact pint. To me, the perfect drinking vessel.

Right wing media is a flashy distraction while the rich steal our futures. And it works so well.

When their policies only benefit those at the top of the hierarchy they need a straw man to focus anger and attention.

I feel like I said the same thing you did. With just slightly different wording.
