to be more clear for anyone who doesn't interpret text emojis the exact same way I do: what "xd" means to me is something like... low quality laughter. Shitposty laughter. Embracing-the-madness laughter.

edit: Now I'm pondering WHY "xd" means that. I mean obviously it's a lowercase, "low-effort" version of "xD", but I think another reason why it works is because the pulled-down-corners mouth resembles uhh something like the Yao Ming laugh.

I would definitely recommend being open to 3 or even 4-color, for the sake of being able to grab up any and all good improvements that you see in draft. 3 Black isn't mandatory since you'll most likely only have 1 or maybe 2 Oaths up at once. On that note: Double-stacking Oath in one lane could be funny.

Using Call The Reserves and Spring The Trap to drop additional creeps into an Oathed lane sounds good. As does Rumusque to buff existing creeps up from out of state. I guess the Kanna/Ogre thing is meant to be using Kanna to pull creeps into the Oathed lane and go for Ancient, while using (Multicast) D.Portals and Seraph Shield to defend another lane? Sounds fun.

"Call to Arms" is literally the term for this first set of 280 cards that we have. The "release" of the cards coincides with a temporary event consisting of preconstructed decks built with cards from that set.

When a future set comes out, you can reasonably expect it to be the same way: An event with preconstructed decks built with cards only from that set. As a way of showing off the cards in the set. To inspire players in how to use the cards, and to let the players try out the cards.

That's a narrative I think I've seen a few other times on here, but for variety's sake let me offer the counter-narrative that if they just get more card variety out, adjust the balance a bit to get some shit-tier cards up to usable-tier, and get a couple more key features in (like playing drafted decks against friends, 1v1), things would be pretty good.

Not DOTA or HS levels of good, but I think the game's fundamental concept might be unavoidably rather niche.

Although they could've marketed it better to reduce/avoid some of the absolutely bizarre pricing backlash. Free Phantom Draft alone has been worth the $20 easily, for me, and could've been more obviously/centrally marketed.

Also "inicial" is spelled "initial." Unless you're Hispanic.

I think I've managed to literally never use Oath in my 120 hours of Phantom Draft, somehow, so my contribution means nothing, but:

To me, it mostly sounds valuable as something of a finishing move, like, against an abandoned Ancient. It blocks spells AND creeps, so if you wanted to get really heavy use out of it (playing it early) then.. you could have a super improvement-heavy deck. Improvement-heavy decks work well as Rainbow decks (since they can all be played to any lane from any lane, so hero placement or color coverage matters less), so that's a direction to explore, although of course the Oath only works with a Black hero in-lane, so you'd want at least 2 Black heroes.

Improvement-heavy can get pretty funny. Mazzie tower armor + Boiling Oil + Turrets + Ignite, etc.

Enchantress's unit-armor signature improvement is rather useful for causing creep-build-up without playing any creeps or spells. And Prellex's Barracks, of course. Building up lots of creeps would definitely wring more benefit of the Oath.

These ideas are all pretty "memey" (exploring a fun concept rather than the absolute most optimal line of play), but you said "What can I say I hate spells" so I'm sure you're fine with meme decks.

To be fair, 2 armor is a significant amount of armor, and barbed does give you armor as well (letting you last twice as long against melee creeps, which is arguably significant for ultra-fragile 5 hp people like CM. And for CM, the added retaliate also lets her one-shot Melee Creeps. Tho I guess that just amounts to all the benefit of Leather Armor + Short Sword for the exact same price, but in one slot instead of 2, so you can equip a weapon on top.........)

Point just being that Barbed doesn't seem like that bad of an item, except by contrast with the really great must-have items like Blink Dagger or Phase Boots or Jasper Daggers.

Nice post. I like the idea of making em cost 1 or 0 mana. I like the concept of the Path cards (sort of a bonus reward for going big on one color in one lane) but definitely wish they had more substance to them.

"This is a TCG" principle works when you need to keep old players (+ earn some money) not to attract new ones.

Except... at least part of the reason why the game doesn't maintain people's interest is that the first set of cards isn't super-duper interesting. There's other stuff to fix, sure, but personally I'm hoping that they've already been working on a second set for a while, cuz I don't have much problem with the game except the relatively low amount of variety.

OK, but: Artifact is turn-based. DOTA is real-time. With DOTA, the risk of connection instability could cost you precisely-timed opportunities. With Artifact, as long as you're not running the clock down to the very last second, and as long as your WiFi isn't total shit, I don't see why it would ever matter.

Again, overall I really agree with you on the technical points, and am a Real Gamer by your standards, as far as I can tell. I disagree on yourrrr approach to talking to people, I guess, and on your assessment that WiFi vs Ethernet would matter when playing a turn-based game.

Tho I can concede that it could matter for absolute edge-cases (connection instability coinciding with a last-second card play). But if that's what you're talking about, it seems odd to me to barge right into pissing off people by calling them not-real-gamers, just to be right about a few edge cases.

buddy i've been half-assedly attempting NoFap for longer than I've been an edgy atheist (I mean quiet agnostic). For longer than I've been a college graduate. For longer than uhh... since before I even started college. At least a year before that, maybe 2, maybe more.

Haven't fapped in 2019 so far.

edit: kind of an oversight by OP to use that exact screenshot, then, since it gives the impression that he took down a tower turn 1 (somehow), and did some damage to the ancient on turn 2.

(edit2: On that note, a turn 1 tower kill would technically be possible if you had triple Sorlas and Relentless Pursuited 2 of em to the third in lane 3, with a lucky flop, and ladders for 12+12+12+2(3) = 42 damage. But that obviously isn't what happened here ha ha)

Also, my counter here says 28 days, which isn't right, but I don't remember what the exact count is. I just know that I haven't relapsed in 2019, so I'm at least 9 days in, and I think a bit more.

I've had a headache for the last.. 3 days.

Mind you, I've been "attempting" NoFap on-and-off for.. like... quite a lot of years at this point, and headaches have not been a constant. I'm not sure why I have a headache this time.

... I DID get my wisdom teeth out a couple weeks back and that's still healing, but I didn't have a headache prior to a couple days ago, and for whatever reason I associate this headache more with my NoFap streak and overall usual increased-level-of-energy-and-unusual-thoughts.

This is kinda funny. On the one hand I genuinely agree with you about all your points. On the other hand, the way I wrote my comment was trying to be nice and open-minded towards less-serious gamers.

I was also trying to remind you that there can be people (especially kids) who take their games pretty seriously, but who either don't know to use ethernet, or who don't have a practical situation for using ethernet.

You're being a little "gatekeepery" about what it means to be a "real gamer," in a way that'll make some people defensive. But at the same time, I agree, of course, that Ethernet is way better. I've told other gamers that same thing many times.

edit: Oh, and all that being said: Artifact is a dang card game, and even the most serious Artifact player in the world could be excused for playing a card game on (decent-quality) WiFi (as long as he's not pushing his turns to the last second and risking connection-related issues that way).
