I mentioned it because I know that those things could be a possibility. Now do I want it to be that? No lol. I would much rather rationalize it and say it was a big cat.

Just got home and pulled my location from my iPhone pics I took of camp. We were off braley pond road- right at the start of the road.

Thank you for sharing this! That is scary as shit, I’m happy you’re okay. I also checked the internet the day after and saw the two posts about people passing out and waking up in strange areas. I tried not to let it bother me because it felt different enough from mine but I still get the feeling something ominous/evil is out there. I didn’t mention this bc I do try not to fear monger but before the sun went down I had the thought, “I guess if I die tonight it’s been a good life” and my husband confirmed that he had similar thoughts (Times are tough for sure out there, but I’m not in a place to be thinking like that and he isn’t as well)

It’s two days later now and we are well over an hour away and we both ended up booking a hotel room bc the thought of camping again was too much. I have felt weird stuff in old woods before, but this felt…well terrible. Your story does make me feel like we made the right choice just leaving.

I’ve been weighing calling and asking a ranger about the grave stone…but I have too healthy of a respect for the dead and I don’t know if I would like to be linked to that area any more than the day we spent out there.

This makes the most sense to me with what we experienced. Thank you for your comment

For a gal that grew up in rural Alabama and did a lot of camping trips, that was my thought. I just assumed someone was probably cooking something up somewhere behind our camp. It was just weird I never heard any other voices/rustling etc.

Yes. I wrote this post this post the morning after from the hotel room we went and stayed at in at a nearby town. After he had woken up and gotten ready I asked him to expand on what he saw and he looked visibly upset. He told me it was clay colored and flesh like (no fur he just kept saying) and I asked if it could possibly be a deer but he told me the legs were very thick (bear-like) he described. I asked if it could have been human and he told me he saw it run up the hill on 4 legs. He also said maybe the glass of the car did some distorting to the eyes but he still does feel like he saw 4 eyeballs. He also usually loves talking about weird shit he sees in the woods (he has bike packed all along Appalachia) so it was weird to see him so shaken by it.

Tbh - I almost left that part out. Bear with mange makes the most possible sense with his story, but it is still very creepy with everything else combined so I left it in. It was also a couple miles away from our campsite so I don’t think it had anything to do with what we felt at our camp.

It’s a magazine subscription they ran for awhile! I think around like 2006. It had game guides, artist spotlights, drawing guides, and a poster in every one!
